Ralph Rucci will not show during New York Fashion Week. Instead, Rucci has opted to hold private showroom appointments. "Cost is always a factor but [that] was not the driving force behind this decision," the communication director for the label says. [Vogue UK]

A former Harper's Bazaar intern is suing Hearst for unpaid work hours. The lawsuit claims that during the intern's tenure at the magazine, she sometimes worked up to 55 hours a week performing duties that were more employee-like than intern-like - and she wants to be paid for it. [Styleite]

Gisele has sent an email to friends and family requesting prayers and positive vibes for husband Tom Brady, who will play in this Sunday's Super Bowl. "I kindly ask all of you to join me on this positive chain and pray for him, so he can feel confident, healthy and strong. Doo.Ri to Collaborate With Macy's Come February

>> Fresh off dressing Michelle Obama for a state dinner with South Korea's president and first lady last Thursday, Doo-Ri Chung has been signed for an upcoming Macy's collaboration.

Chung's collection, which hits Macy's for eight weeks starting Feb. 15, will include her signature draped jersey, knitwear, and art-inspired prints on short- and maxi-length dresses, leggings, blouses, and trench coats, priced $39 to $159. “The customer is very different from whom we’ve catered to before, but I really didn’t have to adapt. Macy’s wanted to keep the design level high. I didn’t feel the challenge was very different,” Chung said.

Chung is the fifth designer to collaborate with Macy's; although, the retailer would not disclose any designer it is working with past Chung, officials did note the series is resonating and will continue through at least 2012 with other designers.

To Anna Wintour's Dismay, New York Fashion Week Continues to Get Bigger

>> The first official look at how Spring 2010 New York Fashion Week is shaping up will come Friday, when the first edition of the Fashion Calendar ships, but until then, we've got a few hints.

“There will be a lot more shows than last year," according to The Calendar's Ruth Finley, which means Anna Wintour won't be pleased. Last season, Anna said that "a lot of people before were having shows that simply shouldn’t have been having them," adding: "It’s much better to see them in the showroom or more of a low-key presentation. It’s more realistic." It seems like a number of designers didn't heed her advice - Finley says that this upcoming season, "There are a lot of new people [showing] you have never heard of."

The line has been a year in the making and hits stores in July. For now, it only comes in gray, black, and white, but she plans on rotating to new colors every season. Thakoon Addition: First Look

>> Thakoon Panichgul is one of a few designers working on line expansions - Doo-Ri Chung and Jason Wu included - and Thakoon Addition is his product. The line, which is not diffusion but rather supplementary, focuses on some of the designer's most popular designs and is at the same price point as his runway clothes. As the designer explains it:

Primarily, I see Thakoon Addition as a place to store ideas. In any given season, I’ve got ideas flying around that don’t fit what I’m planning for the runway, but belong somewhere. Now I don’t have to abandon that stuff. And Thakoon Addition can be a home for recurring pieces as well; looks my customers want from me, consistently. Now, maybe I’ll have a chance to experiment more, but at heart I like to make wearable clothes.

The collection, which hits stores May 15, is full of the designer's name-making prints, including florals and leopard, plus dresses and a couple of skirtsuits.

Fashion In 50 Seconds 12/09/08 Oscar Pre-Fall, Urban Wimps Out, Retailer Woes, Doo Ri Diffuses

Oscar de la Renta showed his Pre-Fall 2009 collection yesterday and his classic, beautifully-made clothes temporarily set the fashion industry's hearts at ease. To see the entire collection, click here.

Urban Outfitters pulled a t-shirt that read "I Support Same Sex Marriage" from shelves just eight days after it landed in stores and online. It was claimed that the shirt spawned too much "bad press" but there's more to this story...

Retailers report that stores are swamped but that most consumers are going for the heavily discounted items rather than slightly discounted gift-able offerings. This, unfortunately, will not help matters.

Doo. Ri has announced the launch of a diffusion line to act in compliment to her ready to wear offerings as seen during New York Fashion Week. The line has yet to be named but is slated to hit stores in 2009.
