Dazed & Confused Celebrates 20 Years with Kate Moss, Katie Grand

>> “It’s a pretty big night, alright,” said Dazed & Confused founder Jefferson Hack, in the midst of celebrating the magazine's 20 years last night with a commemorative exhibit at London's Somerset House. He was joined by Sarah Burton, Christopher Kane, and Gareth Pugh; Dazed co-founders Katie Grand and Rankin; and ex-girlfriend Kate Moss, who at the exhibit's entrance, stated, “If only I could remember half the photos I’ve done with Dazed, I might be able to tell you my favorite," adding: "If I could get through the crowds into the exhibition I might be able to jog my memory.”

Hack, for his part, remembers one set: he recently talked about how he first met Moss - on a 1999 Dazed shoot, for which she was naked. "That was the shoot where I first met Kate. I was taken aback by how chatty and uninhibited she was - that unguarded thing was really captivating." During the accompanying interview with Moss, Hack said he added in the question: "There's been a lot of different men mentioned in your life recently, but no one permanent relationship. Is there no one out there good enough for you?" They ended up dating for four years and producing a daughter, before splitting in 2004. "I saw Lila last night," says Hack. "I see her lots. I have a lovely family and Kate's a great mum."

>> Club Monaco is on a bit of a Euro kick: not only did the brand recently open its first overseas store at Galeries Lafayette in Paris, but it's also joined forces with Brit fashion glossy Dazed & Confused to create its latest lookbook. Photographed by Andrea Spotorno, the spread features Club Monaco's '70s-inspired Fall 2011 collection modeled on a host of international models and it girls: Anna Brewster, Sara Blomqvist, Elodie Bouchez, Lou Lesage, Bambou Gainsbourg, Valentine Fillol Cordier, and Man Repeller's Leandra Medine. Shiny Shiny reports: "A [Dazed & Confused] insider revealed that the mag's iPad edition has been nicknamed the Iran edition by the people putting it together, given the parallels between censorship in the Muslim theocracy and the iTunes store." >> Dazed & Confused Unveils New Design Under Recently Appointed Art Director Christopher Simmonds -Dazed & Confused's April 2010 issue features runway soundtrack favorites The XX, but it also debuts a new visual direction for the magazine following the appointment of Christopher Simmonds as art director. For an alternate look at his past work, Simmonds also art directed Stella McCartney's Spring 2010 watercolor-filled ad campaign. Fashion Mourns Michael Jackson

>> Just today, Swarovski announced that they were going to clothe Michael Jackson head to toe for his "This Is It" tour kicking off next month - his costumes and sets were to feature over 300,000 crystals, in 53 different shapes, 43 different sizes, and 27 different colors. In April, The Imagist reported that Balmain stylist Emmanuelle Alt "would weep" if Jackson allowed Balmain to do his tour costumes because she was "100% obsessed" with him - a fact reflected in Balmain's flashy runway pieces.

Jackson had catapulted himself back into fashion's eye in recent months after he was spotted in a number of different Balmain looks - no doubt courtesy of Emmanuelle Alt - and a favorite gold studded Givenchy jacket. At the news of his death this afternoon, an outpouring of reactions - some incredulous - came from models, editors, and designers alike - those from a few, below.

Katie Grand to Make Conde Nast a Little Grander

>> Katie Grand may be in the midst of styling Spring 2009 shows, but she's got another exciting project in the works. As rumored, she is leaving POP - which she founded in 2000 - to start up a new biannual high-end fashion magazine for Conde Nast UK.

Though the magazine is untitled and much is still to be decided, Grand promises the move is a good one: "I can't wait to get started. I feel the time is ready for a new magazine, a new arena for new ideas. This time we'll have a larger format, bigger budgets and broader horizons than ever before." The bigger budget may have been the main reason for the move - Katie has said in the past that for POP shoots, "Often the photographers are using their own money."

Nonetheless, she has plenty of experience founding a magazine - she helped launch Dazed & Confused and Another Magazine before POP. The new title hits newsstands in March, and as for the future of POP . . . no one has spoken to that.
