A First Look at all Three Covers from Dasha Zhukova's New Garage Magazine (NSFW)

>> Here's the first glimpse of Dasha Zhukova's much-anticipated new magazine, Garage. Hitting newstands September 5th, the magazine's main editorial - as well as one of it's three covers - was photographed by Hedi Slimane and features some provactively-placed tattoos. "The 'INKED' project is really emblematic of the mission of the magazine - bringing together individuals from diverse creative fields to produce something compelling and bold," Zhukova said of the magazine's inaugural theme. Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, Paul McCarthy, and Damien Hirst were all tapped to design tattoos for the issue; it's Hirst's version that graces the main cover, which ships with a peel-back modesty sticker in the shape of a butterfly (left).

The two alternative covers of Garage feature the work of prominent artists as well: one cover features a Nick Knight and Dinos Chapman image of a doll house with a Lily Donaldson doll playing inside, while the other cover features a tattoo design created by Richard Prince. Despite the alternative covers, W.H. Smith has already banned the magazine from sale at its stores in England. However, Barnes & Noble will stock the magazine.

First POP Cover Under Dasha Zhukova Leaks; Zhukova May Be Pregnant

>> The first POP cover under Dasha Zhukova for Fall/Winter 2009, featuring 13-year-old blogger Tavi from Style Rookie in artwork by Damien Hirst, is said to be the image at right. Hirst's participation marks Dasha's push to make the magazine reach further than just the fashion world as it had primarily in the past; her goal when first appointed editor in February was to "provide a broader point of view focusing also on art, contemporary culture and the globalisation of all things pop-related."

We've had a blurry peak at one of the magazine's editorials inside; the cover also boasts a contribution by Juergen Teller, a M/M Paris "bookzine," a 25-year tribute to Naomi Campbell, and "a stem-cell research celebration by Rodarte." If Tavi is indeed on the cover, it's worth noting that a couple of weeks ago, a preview from LOVE's upcoming issue circulated featuring Tavi - ironic that her first two major magazine appearances happen to be in Katie Grand's former magazine (POP), and her current magazine (LOVE).

On a more personal front: last month, Dasha Zhukova's relationship with billionaire Roman Abramovich was said to be over, and now she's being surrounded by pregnancy rumors.

Fashion in 50 Seconds 10/30 with Maison Martin Margiela, Rebecca Minkoff, and Damien Hirst

In business they say "always be closing" but in fashion it is "always be delivering" and Maison Martin Margiela is taking that to heart with a collection they are calling Avant Premiere that will be unveiled to the trade late next month and delivered to stores in May. A Margiela spokeswoman told WWD the collection would consist of about 60 styles for women and 60 for men, plus a small selection of shoes and accessories: less expansive than many pre-collections.

With a little help from stylist Ilaria Urbinati handbag designer Rebecca Minkoff is relaunching her contemporary clothing collection. Minkoff said they were inspired by Elizabeth Taylor in the Fifties and the darkness of the 1982 film “Blade Runner.” We have never before associated the two and are having a hard time making the leap looking at the garments.

Garmentos can feel evern better about their support for Barack Obama. While campaigning in North Carolina he made the most definitive statement yet about his positions on trade as it relates to textiles. He pledged to support five key textile industry policy positions, including a monitoring program for Chinese apparel and textile imports.

>> Dasha Zhukova's First POP Issue Has Four Covers -The POP cover that appeared a couple of weeks ago, featuring 13-year-old Style Rookie fashion blogger Tavi done up by Damien Hirst, turns out to be the first of four editions. Hirst did five different logo treatments for Dasha Zhukova's first issue since taking over at POP; the second cover features Tavi again against a butterfly background, with a glitter and polka-dotted POP logo. The Moment reports there are "Two split runs of the 13yo blogger Tavi: one by Ed Ruscha; and Cicciolina (for the Baltic states)." [The POP, The Moment Twitter]

>> Mag Rumors: A LOVE Revamp, POP's Next Cover Artist, and a Vogue Model Cover? -Fashionista reports that for its next and fourth issue, LOVE will get a "major re-vamp": "Despite its hype . . . the magazine’s had a less than stellar performance in the industry and will shake things up." Over at POP, meanwhile, which tapped Damien Hirst to work on its first cover under Dasha Zhukova and Richard Prince on its second, American artist (and Bjork's husband) Matthew Barney is said to be the man up for issue number three.
