>> Last night's amfAR gala to kick off Fall 2012 Fashion Week had it all. There were superstars (Julianne Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker), icons (Carine Roitfeld, Roberto Cavalli), and way too many supermodels to count - Heidi Klum, Cindy Crawford, Molly Sims, Erin Heatherton, and Anja Rubik, just to name a few. Cavalli, who was honored at the event, offered insight into his newfound passion: social media. "I discovered I love to write. It's a new emotion," the designer explained. >> We've been behind the scenes; now, the original supermodel-filled Duran Duran "Girl Panic!" music video is finally out in full.

Directed by Jonas Akerlund - who also did Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" and "Telephone" music videos - the nearly 10-minute video features Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Yasmin Le Bon, Cindy Crawford, and Eva Herzigova playing different Duran Duran band members, with Campbell as frontman Simon Le Bon. Footage of the supers partying, doing a Harper's Bazaar UK magazine shoot, and talking with reporters fills the film, which also has cameos from Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.

>> Five of the original supermodels - Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Yasmin Le Bon, Cindy Crawford, and Eva Herzigova - teamed up with Duran Duran in June to shoot the music video for the band's upcoming single, "Girl Panic!" . . . and the December 2011 issue of Harper's Bazaar UK has a first look.

As Duran Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes explained of the project, "Harper's had approached us about collaborating with the magazine on something really special when the new album came out. I’d had this crazy idea for a video for the song 'Girl Panic!', that looked fantastic on paper, but that I thought in reality would be impossible to pull off. The idea was to re-create a day in the life of the band, with five of the world’s greatest supermodels playing all of us. Lucy [Yeomans, editor of Harper's Bazaar UK] loved the idea of doing a cover shoot within the video itself - and so it all began."

On the cover, the five supers wear black Dolce & Gabbana corsets - designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were also on set for the shoot - and then inside, transform into Duran Duran band members, with Campbell playing lead singer Simon Le Bon.

The "Girl Panic!" video, which was directed by Jonas Ackerlund - who also did Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" and "Telephone" music videos - is expected to be serialized virally online before premiering in whole later this year. See the first, below.

Behind-the-Scenes Snaps from Duran Duran's Upcoming Supermodel-Heavy Music Video (Updated)

>> On Monday, supermodels Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, and Helena Christensen flew in to join Yasmin Le Bon on the two-day shoot of Duran Duran's upcoming music video for "Girl Panic." Directed by Jonas Ackerlund (who did Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" video and the recent Kate Moss Dior Addict commercial), the video was filmed in central London "at a posh hotel," with Crawford riding in the back of a Rolls Royce and the supermodels performing as the band.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were also on the set, which doubled as a cover shoot for Harper's Bazaar UK. The magazine's editor Lucy Yeomans Tweeted: "Longest, latest Bazaar shoot in history. Didn't start on cover til 1am & got home at 4, but utterly worth it. One more day to go..." And later: "This has to have been one of the most extraordinary days of my life. A little bit of fashion history made!" The video is expected to be serialized virally online before premiering in whole later this year.

Cindy Crawford "Feels Like an Industry Outsider Now"

>> Cindy Crawford's kids may appear with her in the new Propel commercial, but she's not pushing them into the spotlight, she tells Parade: "Originally, I didn't want to use my kids in the commercial because I don't ever want to make them feel like they have to work because they might be in a bad mood that day or they might want to have a play date. I don't ever want to say, 'Well sorry, you're booked.' But the night before the commercial, they heard my husband and I talking and they heard that we were having 'fake' kids. They were like, 'You can't have fake kids! You have to have us!' So at the last minute, they ended up doing it."

Crawford also strives to make sure her daughter, 9-year-old Kaia, has a healthy body image: "I think the way kids learn most is not by what you say, but by what you do. They see me making healthy choices, and they see my husband and I exercising. Being a woman and having a daughter, I don't want her to feel like in order to be attractive or healthy or thin, that you have to deprive yourself all of the time. So if we go out for ice cream, I don't say, 'Oh, I can't have that!' I'll order one. I don't make a big deal out of it. She sees how I eat and I always say that I try to be 80 percent good, 80 percent of the time because that's achievable."

As for the modeling industry and how its changed since her heyday, Crawford admits: "I do feel like an outsider now, but I just saw the CoverGirl commercial with Taylor Swift and I thought, 'Wow, it is so hard for models to get a job these days.' You have to sing and act, too. There doesn't seem to be as much work specifically just for models. And I also think when I was modeling, size 6 was a normal size and now it's like 2 or 0."

Supermodels Hit the Beach Pre-New Year's, from Cabo to St. Barts to Thailand

Just this morning, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Bar Rafaeli were snapped in Cabo catching some sun together. And yesterday, Stephanie Seymour was spotted frolicking in the water with her family in St. Barts, while Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, her boyfriend Jason Statham, and Alessandra Ambrosio logged some yacht time in St. Barts last night. Kate Moss, for her part, has yet to hit the beach, but she was snapped at the airport yesterday with Jamie Hince and Lila Grace Hack - and she's rumored to have been headed to Thailand for her own beach holiday.

One Gold Balmain Dress Has Graced Six Fall Fashion Covers

One Miu Miu dress style (two colors) scored at least three fashion magazine covers over the Summer, but in the months since, a Fall 2010 gold Balmain dress - originally worn by Anja Rubik on the runway - is besting the Miu Miu dress twice over, with six covers so far. The Balmain look was first spotted on Abbey Lee Kershaw's August 2010 Vogue Germany cover, and has since been sported on covers by Cindy Crawford, Anna Dello Russo, and Natalia Vodianova. At least one more cover may be on the way - Anne Hathaway is said to be wearing "sparkly gold" Balmain on Elle UK's December 2010 cover.

Peter Lindbergh Goes Light on Retouching Again, This Time with Supermodels for Harper's Bazaar

>> Peter Lindbergh seems to be quite taken with this no-makeup, minimal-to-no retouching concept: In April, he captured Eva Herzigova, Ines de la Fressange, and a slew of European actresses without makeup or retouching for French Elle. A month after, he told the New York Times that he was tired of subjects in fashion magazines looking like overly-Photoshopped “objects from Mars": “My feeling is that for years now it has taken a much too big part in how women are being visually defined today. Heartless retouching should not be the chosen tool to represent women in the beginning of this century.”

Lindbergh continues to lead the charge against excessive retouching, this time by capturing supermodels Amber Valletta, Nadja Auermann, Helena Christensen, Shalom Harlow, Claudia Schiffer, Tatjana Patitz, Cindy Crawford, and Kristen McMenamy without makeup or excessive retouching for Harper's Bazaar's September 2009 issue.
