Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Resort 2012

>> Chloe Sevigny chose an old youth center gym in New York's Nolita neighborhood for her first ever Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony runway show. "The company has grown so much and we wanted people to be able to see the clothes," she explained, adding of her choice of location: "I wanted you to come in and be transported back to the way you felt when you were a teenager. Even little tiny things - the cinder blocks, the color blue of the walls. Anything that would trigger the senses to that time when you're questioning everything."

Laser-cut leather eyelet minidresses, pearl-studded flats, and shoulder-baring tops populated the Resort 2012 collection, some pieces of which - logo-printed crop tops and high-top sneakers, for instance - were done in collaboration with skateboard lifestyle brand Vision Street Wear. As for the diverse model cast - which included Jenny Shimizu, Christina Kruse, and Danielle Zinaich - Sevigny said: "I wanted to do young and old and different kind of body shapes. A girl you could see hanging out in Tompkins Square Park, or your friend, or your friend's pretty friend. I wanted to look like they could all be hanging out together. I didn't want unattainable beauty."

The collection is expected to hit stores in November, with prices ranging from $45 for a printed denim beret to between $175 and $1,100 for dresses.

While the lookbook featuring Sevigny has been circulating for months, Opening Ceremony just started releasing up-close looks at the collection's full expanse. There are baby doll leopard dresses, T-shirts printed with Sevigny's favorite Robert Mapplethorpe photographs and collages, and what Sevigny's collections are really known for: the shoes.

First Look: Chloe Sevigny Debuts Third Collection for Opening Ceremony

>> This Winter brings Chloe Sevigny's third collection to Opening Ceremony. The concept? Five dresses - a baby doll, a puff-sleeved minidress, an empire-waisted shift, a Peter Pan-collared frock, and a boxy dress - in five different prints - leopard, polka dot, paisley, houndstooth, and floral.

"I was just thinking about my closet and how I buy the same thing over and over again. I will buy one dress and want to have it made with different fabrics, so I thought why not try different silhouettes with different patterns, so people can choose a silhouette and have it in a variety of prints," Sevigny explained, adding: “These are prints that I always come back to.”

There are also leather shorts, jeans, T-shirts done with the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation, square-toed boots reissued by NaNa Shoes ("I wore those combat boots growing up," Sevigny said), sunglasses by Barton Perreira, and tights printed by Fogal to match the dresses.

Originally we were just going to do menswear or unisex this season, but I thought we should do some girl’s shoes because I still see some of the editors wearing them." It seems Opening Ceremony agrees - they've placed the $625 buckle wedge boots from her Fall 2009 collection on pre-sale "due to popular demand" through this Wednesday - the rest of the collection hits at the end of August. Facehunter, Fashion Toast, and BunnyBisous Bloggers Convert Posts Into Further Industry Opportunities

>> Streetstyle photographers Garance Dore, Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist, and Tommy Ton of Jak & Jil have all turned their blogs into further industry opportunities - Garance now shoots editorials for the likes of Glamour Italy and guest blogs for Vogue.fr, Scott has photographed two seasons worth of DKNY Jeans campaigns and has a compilation book coming out in September, and Tommy did the Spring 2009 Lane Crawford campaign. And style blogger Susanna Lau's time on Style Bubble allowed her to transition from digital media planner at an ad agency to commissing editor of Dazed & Confused's DazedDigital.com.

In the past week or so, a handful of other fashion bloggers have seen their blog time become currency for further opportunities: Yvan Rodic of Facehunter just announced a compilation book of his streetstyle photography is coming out in early 2010. Julia Frakes of BunnyBisous and Paper's Fashion Schmasion is doing some lookbook time - first in Rachel Antonoff's Fall 2009 set and yesterday, she apparently shot the Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony lookbook, complete with '90s hair; the last round of which Chloe starred in herself. And finally, Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast just signed with Next, is appearing in RVCA's campaign, and has further upcoming editorials and styling work already in the pipeline.

Humberto Leon and Carol Lim's First Kenzo Collection Well-Received

>> Yesterday, Opening Ceremony's Humberto Leon and Carol Lim welcomed editors and buyers to view their first, contemporary-slanted Kenzo collection - for Spring 2012 - at company headquarters. Giant, brightly-colored block K, E, N, Z, and O letters were lying about, a remix of Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” was playing on the loudspeaker, and their friend Chloe Sevigny closed the parade of models in a blue jumpsuit.

“We kind of put our feelers out that we were available to do something,” Leon said of how they got the job - they were two of 30 candidates interviewed. “We wanted to do a big project that felt --” “-- creative and exciting,” said Lim, finishing his sentence.

And it seems that they succeeded, according to Style.com: "Reactions at the presentation and afterward leaned toward raves." Added WWD: "The knowingly hip outfits probably missed the duo’s ambition of designing for 'all different types of bodies and ages,' as Leon said, but they delivered enough of a jolt to successfully reposition Kenzo as a more accessible contemporary label." Most of all, sounds like Lim and Leon will be sticking around a while - LVMH executive Pierre-Yves Roussel, who interviewed all 30 Kenzo candidates, noted of the collection: "It was exactly what we wanted."

Chloe Sevigny is planning on collaborating with Opening Ceremony again - on a men's line. Don't stop reading just yet - the pieces will come in "girl versions" as well - not with different tailoring, but in smaller sizes: "Not only did I want to do something for the guys in my life, but a lot of my girlfriends prefer to wear men's stuff," Sevigny said. "I think what they like about men's clothes is the fit. So I don't want to change that. It'll be a new challenge."

If the men's line takes any reference point from her women's collection, expect lots of '90s-inspired oversized flannel grunge shirts.
