>> Stella McCartney is known for her quirky, even cartoony campaigns, and this time, she enlisted Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott to shoot Joan Smalls and Malgosia Bela for Spring 2011. The ads show Bela wearing nothing but a collage of blown-up images of McCartney's Spring fruit print or Smalls wearing a swimsuit-shaped collage of pastel-colored suit lapels. “I wanted to play with the purity and realism of the citrus print from summer 2011….exaggerating the scale and playing with the female form in its purest form, as nature intended,” McCartney told WWD. A look at that, plus Erin Wasson's minimalist turn for Elie Saab, Patricia van der Vliet's maximalist turn for Sonia Rykiel, and Raquel Zimmermann and Freja Beha Erichsen for H&M, all in the gallery.

Cerruti Closing Women’s to Focus on Menswear

>> Cerruti, which was purchased by the Li & Fung group in December, just announced that it will be suspending its womenswear division to focus on menswear. “We prefer not to spread ourselves too thin in a field that is highly competitive,” said CEO Florent Perrichon. Women's creative director Richard Nicoll will present his third and last collection for the house in March, in a yet-to-be-determined format. [WWD]

>> Richard Nicoll Designing Cerruti? -Italian heritage label Cerruti promised it would disclose the name of its new womenswear designer, succeeding Jean Paul Knott after his 18 month stint, in September. Although there hasn't been an official announcement, word from JC Report is it's London designer Richard Nicoll who's quietly taken over and is showing in Paris, although WWD has the Spring 2010 collection up and credits "Cerruti's design team" with the work. [JC Report Twitter, WWD]

UPDATE: Nicoll confirms that he has signed on to Cerruti for three seasons, his first runway show for the brand will be in Paris for Fall 2010. [WWD]

>> After a failed transaction with Samsung, Gianfranco Ferré might have another savior on the horizon. A Milan-based source revealed that Paris Group, a Dubai-based fashion distributor and franchisee in the Middle East, has submitted an offer for the bankrupt brand: “This is a real offer, they are very keen,” said the source. Paris Group, founded by Abdulkader Sankari, operates more than 250 stores in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia for brands such as Versace, Cerruti, and Ferré.
