>> The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund judging committee - which this year includes Jack McCollough, Lazaro Hernandez, Vogue's Mark Holgate, Jeffrey Kalinsky of Jeffrey and Nordstrom, CFDA executive director Steven Kolb, Reed Krakoff, Andrew Rosen, Diane von Furstenberg, Jenna Lyons, and Anna Wintour - have determined the 2011 finalists. They are:

Joseph Altuzarra and Pamela Love are repeat finalists from last year, and Ohne Titel was a finalist in 2009. The winner and two runners-up will be announced Nov. 14.

>> New York Fashion Week Tidbits: Rodarte, Alexander Wang Working with Nick Knight on Films, and more -Alexander Wang and Laura and Kate Mulleavy must have liked the video of Raquel Zimmermann writhing among snakes that Nick Knight produced for the backdrop of Alexander McQueen's Spring 2010 show: Knight is said to be working with both Wang and Rodarte on fashion films for their upcoming shows. Erin Wasson, meanwhile, is said to be inspired by Jimi Hendrix for her upcoming RVCA collection, and Cushnie et Ochs are collaborating with Albertus Swanepoel on hats for Fall 2010. Cushnie et Ochs Continue to Be Cultivated for Fall 2009

>> Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs said that without that $25,000 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award, "there's no way we would have been able to [secure a spot at the New York Public Library for their show]." And there was evidence this afternoon that the award did more than just that for their sophomore collection - it brought them attention: a new sponsorship courtesy of Saga Furs provided one big furry jacket, a furry funnel neckpiece, and a upside-down triangular fur piece running down the back of a black wool coat; attendance was substantially larger than at their debut presentation, attracting critical bigwigs like Cathy Horyn and Suzy Menkes; and CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist Alejandro Ingelmo provided towering heels, which between that and the substantially raised runway, created the illusion that the models were even more statuesque than usual.

Cushnie and Ochs stuck to a lot of their silhouettes from Spring 2009: supertight, supershort minidresses, skintight pants, cropped tops, and cutouts, but this time, there was some interesting play with asymmetrical silhouettes and crisscrossing knits. Also of note: crystalline beads decorating one crop top and one dresses that were sewn to stick straight out in the air, resembling pins.

Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2012

>> How many sharp little dresses can one collection have? If you ask Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, the answer is dozens. The duo have made a name for themselves doing their version of the sexy modern dress, often working in references that teeter toward subversive. This season, the subversive reference at play was Pedro Almodóvar's recent film The Skin I Live In, which manifested itself in precise cutouts, sculptural flaps, zipped-up layers, and undulating drapes - all meant to invoke the skill of a sociopathic plastic surgeon. But it wasn't all so twisted: there were also trim pantsuits (albeit with a nice helping of sheer) and a few softly tailored sheaths to provide relief.

Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2012

>> Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs took a little journey to the softer side for Spring 2012. Sure, there were the body-con silhouettes and masterful tailoring we've come to expect from the line, but this time around there was a certain lushness on display as well. Circle skirts flounced beneath sharp-cut blazers, cowl-folds draped liquid-like on sheath dresses, and a delicate eyelet fabric made an appearance on several blouses and skirts. There was color on offer as well, in the form of lemony yellow and candy pink. If all this sounds a bit too girly for Cushnie et Ochs, never fear. The collection had plenty of plunging necklines, geometric piecing, and sexy leather to temper all the sweetness.

Cushnie et Ochs Expand Their Offering for Fall 2010

>> Where there's Cushnie et Ochs, there's a runway full off body con minidresses - and Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs did not disappoint. They did, however, show off a more well-rounded collection this season: crinkled leather pants and jackets, an oversized knit cardigan with fox fur sleeves, even a few separates. The duo also had a number of collaborations going this time around: photographer Chadwick Tyler, known for his smudgy, black-and-white pictures of models, held down casting duties, while Albertus Swanepoel produced wrinkled leather helmuts-cum-do-rags and Alejandro Ingelmo cobbled together vertiginous pony hair and velvet wedge boots for the show. Andre Leon Talley sat in for the show, arms crossed, just one seat down from J. Alexander, who he's replacing as judge on America's Next Top Model, and Alexandra Richards, all in black, fit well in the cavernous show setting.
