Colors are muted, waists are nipped while hemlines run longer, and half of the evening gown options have sleeves. A whiff of the '30s also runs through, between the chrysanthemum print dresses and the ruched bow belts that played a part in almost every look.

Burberry Brings Its Beauties to Paris

>> Burberry brought its British friends and faces - Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Cara Delevingne, Alexa Chung - to Paris last night for the opening of its newest and biggest store in Paris. Christopher Bailey, too, was on-site at the 10,000-square-foot flagship - which spans four floors and is located at 56 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré - and had plans to eat steak-frites while in town. After the store cocktail, the crowd decamped to the British ambassador's residence nearby, where British pop band The Feeling gave a live performance and Chung DJed.

Jourdan Dunn, Lily Donaldson, and More Join Burberry at the Serpentine Gallery Bash

>> Last night in London's Kensington Gardens, Burberry and Christopher Bailey co-hosted the Serpentine Gallery's annual fundraising bash, The Summer Party. Burberry was of course well-represented by brand faces past and present - Cara Delevingne, Lily Donaldson, Alexa Chung, and Jourdan Dunn.

Dunn, for her part, is going on two seasons as the face of the brand: "I love working for Burberry. It's like a family, Christopher is amazing - he's so easy to talk to." She added that she's been commuting between her family's home in London and a pad in New York, and that modeling hasn't changed her life that much: "I'm pretty normal, I still live at home and my mum and brothers wouldn't let me think I'm better than I am. I was at home yesterday and my mum was making me work in the garden with the others - she wouldn't take much notice if I was to say, 'Um, excuse me, do you not realise that yesterday I was shooting for Vogue?' My family keep me grounded, which I'm pleased about - fashion can be a pretty intimidating place."

Bailey, meanwhile, noted of the event: “We are proud to be continuing the Burberry history of supporting the arts. It is particularly exciting to be working with the Serpentine Gallery a space synonymous with creativity in a very iconic British location.”

The Royal Wedding Arrivals Have Started!

>> A little over an hour and we might get a first glimpse at Kate Middleton's wedding gown, but in the meantime, the guest arrivals have started. Among them so far: David Beckham in Ralph Lauren Purple Label (and top hat!) and a pregnant Victoria Beckham in a midnight blue dress of her own design with a Philip Treacy hat - speaking of, Treacy is outfitting 36 guests in total; official engagement portrait photographer Mario Testino - who reportedly had his camera confiscated; and Prince Harry's on/off girlfriend Chelsy Davy in a boatnecked emerald Alberta Ferretti dress. Expect to see lots of hats, fascinators and dresses with sleeves - exposing shoulders and heads in a sacred house of worship like Westminster Abbey, where the wedding ceremony is taking place, is considered improper.

Watch Highlights From Burberry's Visual Effect-Heavy Beijing Show, in Which Models Appear to Disappear

>> In the past week alone, three brands have held shows in China - Valentino and Marc by Marc Jacobs in Hong Kong and Burberry in Beijing - but Burberry's was hardly a straightforward runway show.

For its first event in China in 10 years (and in celebration of a new Beijing flagship), Burberry gathered more than 1,000 guests in front of the massive stage at Beijing Television Center last night to showcase its Fall 2011 collection. Virtual image technologies - holograms, projections, and animations - were used on the runway, creating the illusion of models disappearing, switching looks, or transforming into snow clouds as they walked by one another. Some models were even joined by holograms of themselves.

Christopher Bailey, a heavy proponent of pushing the envelope with technology, said yesterday morning: “I love the vehicle of technology. I love using it as a platform in which to communicate the ideas, the attitude, the spirit of the company. Sometimes as an industry, perhaps we think it is not a legitimate channel in which to speak to people. I just don’t really agree with it. Fashion is supposed to be about making things relevant. Yes, it is luxury. Yes, it is aspiration. Yes, it is supposed to be inspiring. But I think there is nothing more inspiring than talking digitally, because you can get attitude, you can get music, you can get sound, you can get video and movement. You can actually articulate so much of your brand using this medium.”
