>> Joanna Sykes Is Aquascutum's New Creative Director -After signing the contract on Friday, Armani alum Joanna Sykes is Aquascutum's new creative director; she replaces Michael Herz and Graeme Fidler, who left for Bally in April. Aquascutum won't return to the runway in September; Sykes first full collection will debut next February at London Fashion Week for the Fall 2011 season. But in the meantime, says Aquascutum CEO Belinda Earl, Sykes's "influence on the brand will begin as of now." Sykes, for her part, notes of her aim for the brand: "I want to focus on clothes that are based around classics, and that aren’t too seasonal . . . Aquascutum’s already a revered name. Longtime Aquascutum Designers Resign to Focus on New Projects

>> After turning in a well-received Fall 2010 collection - Style.com thought the designs "marked a pivotal moment" between Aquascutum's heritage and modern design sensibility - womenswear designer Michael Herz and his menswear counterpart Graeme Fidler have handed in their resignations, Aquascutum confirmed.

The designers, who have been at the company since 2002 and 2000, respectively, have endured a rollercoaster of management changes - most recently, last Fall, when Aquascutum was purchased by BFC and Jaeger chairman Harold Tillman and chief executive Belinda Earl. WWD reports an industry source saying that both designers are angling to move on to new projects. "They've had a great time at the brand, but they want to move on, and we fully understand that," said Earl. "We wish them well, and the situation is amicable."

>> Despite No Runway Show, Aquascutum Will Still Have London Fashion Week Presence -Aquascutum pulled out of London Fashion Week earlier this month due to turmoil among its management and its pending sale, but the brand won't be entirely void of presence when all the international buyers and editors are in town. The Spring 2010 collection will be presented during LFW at the Aquascutum flagship in London. "We will be using this opportunity to be able to show the collections in an innovative and more interactive format,” said Aquascutum head of womenswear Michael Herz. [WWD]

Aquascutum Pulls Out of Fashion Week, Christian Audigier Showing in Paris

>> Designers have been flocking back to London Fashion Week for Spring 2010 to help celebrate the event's 25th anniversary - the latest convert is Jasmine Di Milo - but London is also losing a few headliners: first Giles Deacon, and now Acquascutum. The latter brand, which has been under turmoil as of late after a failed buyout attempt led by former CEO Kim Winser - who promptly left the company afterwards - has been up for sale by parent company Renown since last year.

Renown is currently in advanced talks with its Chinese licensee YGM Trading Ltd, but today released this statement: “While Renown awaits a sale of Aquascutum, they are consolidating their investment in the business during this period, and will therefore not show this September.”

Meanwhile, Paris Fashion Week is said to be getting a little Los Angeles flavor: Christian Audigier says he's showing there for Spring 2010 this October and promises a performance by an unnamed "big celebrity" name.
