Leibovitz was able to buy back her photo rights, Art Capital is dropping its breach of contract lawsuit, and she's avoided the predicted bankruptcy filing. The conditions of Art Capital's $24 million loan to Leibovitz were renegotiated and its maturity date, originally Sept. 8, extended. [WWD]

The lawsuit seeks to compel her to grant access to her homes and to meet with parties who are interested in buying her works so that she can repay the loan; so far, she has refused on both accounts. >> ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL -Louis Vuitton released the latest edition of its Annie Leibovitz-lensed "Core Values" campaign, featuring astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Sally Ride, and Jim Lovell staring up at the night sky in the California desert. This segment of the campaign, which in the past has featured Catherine Deneuve, Keith Richards, Sofia and Francis Ford Coppola, among others, marks the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon and symbolizes the brand's efforts to attract sophisticated customers - Kate Betts noted yesterday that this ad "is the coolest one yet." However, a source who seems to know the ins and outs of Meisel - including that he turned down shooting the Missoni, Christian Dior, Max Mara, and DSquared2 campaigns for Fall 2009 because of money, and that he recently shot the Roberto Cavalli campaign in New York with two girls and a boy - says it's not him. >> INSIDER WIRE -We know Vogue's May 2009 cover will center around models, but what about further down the line? Fashion director Tonne Goodman and Annie Leibovitz were spotted in Malibu yesterday, doing a photoshoot with the girls of Nine (minus a couple): Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Kate Hudson, and Penelope Cruz. The movie cast was a Vogue cover waiting to happen, although it seems early to be shooting a cover, since the movie doesn't come out until Nov. 25, so logically it would be a November 2009 cover. Maybe the photos are just going inside, but a quad cover like that seems too much like something Anna Wintour couldn't pass up. [PopSugar]

>> Last week, British singer Adele announced she was getting the Vogue treatment for the Grammys - she was scheduled to shoot a spread for the magazine with Annie Leibovitz, and Anna Wintour wanted to meet her during her final fitting last Monday. "It was just like The Devil Wears Prada," Adele said. "It was amazing. I was really frightened and I went in and she was so nice. She was like, 'What labels do you like?' I was trying to make up these designers that I was quite sure I had read in Vogue or something before." Anna ended up offering to style her for the awards show, and Adele got "a really nice dress" out of the bargain.

Adele walked the red carpet last night in a Barbara Tfank flared black dress - which Vogue had custom-made for the occasion - and a green jacket that looked like something Wintour might wear herself, a tuxedoed Hamish Bowles on her arm. Another Vogue celebrity styling debacle has been avoided, and we might even get a chronicle of the experience in Vogue - my best guess for Hamish's appearance on the red carpet.

>> INSIDER WIRE -Rumors have placed Michelle Obama on the March 2009 Vogue cover, and although a Vogue spokesman denied that there were any set plans back in early December, recent developments might indicate otherwise. Yesterday morning, Annie Leibovitz was spotted entering the Hay-Adams Hotel, the Obama's current residence in Washington, DC. Granted, it could have been a shoot for Vanity Fair, but maybe, just maybe, it wasn't - Vogue has been vocal about being "very interested" in working with Mrs. O, and Annie does have a history of doing covers for the magazine.
