Fairchild Fashion Media, the company that owns WWD and Style.com, announced today that it has acquired Fashion Networks International LLC, which owns NowManifest. The site plays host to blogs written by Bryanboy, Anna Dello Russo, Elin Kling, and Derek Blasberg, among others. [Fashion Etc.]
Kristen Stewart wears both men's and women's clothing in the June issue of Elle. In one photo, she plays both a man in a tailored Balenciaga suit and a woman in a Tom Ford crocodile bustier. [Elle]
Jean Paul Gaultier took his first trip to China this week for a presentation of his Fall 2012 ready-to-wear and couture collections. The show drew a crowd of almost a thousand people. Gaultier joins Dior, Chanel, Burberry, and other European brands that have presented special shows or exhibitions in China, Taiwan, and Japan. [WWD]
Indonesia's national police have canceled Lady Gaga's June 3 concert in Jakarta after religious groups and conservative lawmakers protested against her sometimes racy choreography and stage costumes. The police said they decided to deny a permit because they couldn't guarantee security at the concert, which would have hosted the largest audience of Gaga's "Born This Way" tour in Asia. [The Cut]
Tyra Banks wrote an open letter to aspiring models in light of Vogue's new Health Initiative, encouraging women all over the world to embrace their flaws. "Vogue has the power to make and break-whether it's fashion trends, designers, models, and yes, even industry practices," Banks writes. "Their bold stance means that others will follow." Rachel Roy has revealed the details of how she and her date Solange Knowles got ready for the Met Gala. In between getting her makeup done and a final dress fitting, Roy squeezed in a "quick phone call to the office" and "a little negotiation on some fabric prices." [Stylelist]

Anna Dello Russo Is Next H&M Collaborator

The next big H&M collaborator is not a designer but an editor. Anna Dello Russo, Vogue Japan fashion director at large, has partnered with the Swedish fast fashion chain to produce a line of accessories.

The collection is made up of statement jewelry in gold-and-turquoise, bejeweled sunglasses, embellished minaudieres, and vertiginous heels - all Dello Russo signatures - and will hit 140 H&M stores worldwide Oct. 4.

"This is the sign of an important evolution in fashion, and I am both thrilled and humbled to be the one chosen to lead it," Dello Russo said of the retailers decision to partner with her instead of a designer. "With these pieces everybody can have fun, turning an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day."

Anna Dello Russo on Vintage Clothing and Practical Handbags

As large and well documented as her fashion collection is, Anna Dello Russo says she's "not a fan" of vintage clothing. The Vogue Japan editor talked about this distaste in a recent Financial Times Q&A with Emilio Pucci's Peter Dundas.

"I like to consider myself the guardian of fashion. When I moved house 10 years ago, I had 4,000 pairs of shoes. I had to buy a bigger home to store all the clothes because I need closets, not kitchens, and many are now in my house in Bari [in the southern Puglia region]. I'm super tidy so every item is catalogued, stored in garment bags with tissue paper, perfumed, and on hangers that are all the same. But I'm not a vintage fan - I don't like the smell of old clothes."

Dello Russo applies similar standards when it comes to accessories and loungewear. "I'm also not a fan of bags, because anything that is practical isn't handsome; if anything I like clutches. Pajamas and tracksuits are sloppy so I only wear Abercrombie & Fitch tracksuits to go to my yoga class. If you dress comfortably, you don't get the look," she says.

Leighton Meester turned up wearing a ruffled white off-the-shoulder frock, while Olivia Palermo was spotted in a sheer maxi skirt and lace blouse combo complete with oversized jade earrings. There were also plenty of fancy pants in the mix: Taylor Tomas Hill wore a sequined pair, Margherita Missoni wore a velvet periwinkle style, and Susie Lau stunned in a wide-leg printed bright coral pair. Anna Dello Russo Has Styled and Edited a Capsule Collection for Macy's

But as the contemporary label's editor-at-large, Dello Russo's involvement doesn't end there: she "edited" a capsule collection of ready-to-wear and accessories for Macy's INC - including red and yellow cropped peacoats, color-blocked tunics, a cropped red fur chubby, all of which can be seen in the ads.

"I’ve edited so many things in my life, the mass market is another challenge for me,” said Dello Russo of the line, which is priced $30 to $139. “I wanted to see if I could push forward in a new way and Macy’s for me represents the biggest of American shopping institutions.”

Watch Anna Dello Russo Talk Being "A Total Fashion Victim"

Anna Dello Russo has opened her Paris fashion week closet at the Ritz to various street-style photographers and journalists, but CNN took it to the next level, capturing the spectacle on video. Dello Russo, of course, dispatches her signature quotable gems. Take, for example, why she doesn't wear black, even though so many others in the industry do: "They are depressed, to me. I don't like black when it's really conformist. Why would people look at me if I'm wearing a black coat?"

She continues: "Paris Fashion Week for me is like my Olympic Games, I have to be the best performer. That's why I'm thinking about clothes six months before, because it's [like] a singer, being in concert. You can't come to a concert and be like, 'Oh, I forgot a song.' When I'm here [in Paris], I really perform." However, with all the embellishment and color she prefers, Dello Russo admits: "Sometimes I look like a Christmas tree . . . that is okay." She adds: "Because I'm totally crazy, I mean, I'm a total fashion victim."

As for her recommendation on how to put together the right look? "Dance before you get dressed - put the music on, light the candles, dance naked, and your spirit will give you the right outfit."

Anna Dello Russo Says Her Clothes Are Bought at Retail, Not Gifts
