>> Models Missing from the New York Runways: An Update -With only one more day of New York Fashion Week to go, a number of top models still haven't set foot on a catwalk. Anja Rubik finally appeared at Michael Kors this morning - so did Carmen Kass and Jacquetta Wheeler - but Catherine McNeil - who is supposedly booked all through the New York shows on another job - Toni Garrn, Lara Stone, Anna Maria Jagodzinska, Sigrid Agren - who's rumored not to be doing any shows this season - Tanya Dziahileva, Raquel Zimmermann, and Georgina Stojiljkovic are all totally MIA. Rag & Bone Adds Sunglasses, Shoes, and Other Sundry Accessories to Their Cool Girl Basics for Spring 2010

>> Marcus Wainwright and David Neville are expanding Rag & Bone in every which way for Spring 2010 - sunglasses in three types of tortoiseshell, accessories spanning belts to stick pins to sure-to-be-clamored over wedge boots. Just as much as the show is about cool girl basics - this time flutter-backed tops and fitted leather jackets - and how show stylist Tabitha Simmons pulled them all together, it's about the models. Iselin Steiro, who hadn't walked a runway in a year, opened; model-to-watch Emily DiDonato made it her first runway show ever; Kinga Rajzak debuted a newly-dyed brunette 'do; and Jessica Stam, who is said to have collaborated on the collection, sat front row and Tweeted about it - she's only doing two New York shows, the first is Anna Sui.

Anna Sui, Womenswear Nominees to Have Mini Fashion Show at 2009 CFDA Awards; Presenters Announced

>> The 2009 CFDA Awards are on Monday - the afterparties are planned, various outlets are hedging their bets on the winners, and to the disappointment of many, Board of Director’s Special Tribute honoree Michelle Obama will not be in attendance - fashion has been foiled once again - her cultural ambassador Bonnie McElveen-Hunter will receive the award in her stead.

But the rumor about the mini fashion show at the awards ceremony is true: As a preview of New York Fashion Week's move to Lincoln Center next year, a runway presentation of Lifetime Achievement honoree Anna Sui, plus the work of other womenswear nominees, will take place on the Center's Alice Tully Hall stage. According to Fashion Week Daily, "Don’t expect anything less than stellar models to strut their stuff on stage, nearly every big name is already booked for the mini-shows."

>> IN PRODUCTION -The newest designers pulling up to the collaboration station: Anna Sui, who is following Alexander McQueen as the second designer in Target's Designer Collaboration series starting Sept. 13 with a Gossip Girl-inspired collection; Christopher Kane, who is doing his biggest line ever - "it's more than a capsule collection with bags, shoes, knitwear and dresses. It's nothing like any other work I've done in the past" - for Topshop, tentatively expected sometime in late August; and Lizzie Fortunato Jewels, who are taking their arts and crafts jewelry to Urban Outfitters under the label Hope Marian this July. 2009 CFDA Award Nominees Announced

>> The 2009 CFDA Award nominees have just been announced, and Marc Jacobs has already won an award - the International Award for his work at Louis Vuitton (he's nominated in two more categories). Last year's Swarovski Award winners, Rodarte and Band of Outsiders, have both been bumped up to compete in the respective major league categories, and 2008 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund contenders Albertus Q. Swanepoel, Alejandro Ingelmo, and Jason Wu have all entered the Swarovski Award ring this year.

We'll have to wait until June 15 to see who wins what, but the ceremony might mark fashion's first Michelle Obama event appearance - she's being honored with this year's Board of Director's Special Tribute for her style choices and penchant for up-and-coming talent.

>> THE ZEITGEIST -Having a camera-toting entourage seems to be in vogue this season: Coco Rocha had an E! camera crew following her around in New York, Jessica Stam led MTV News around backstage at Anna Sui, Anna Wintour, who was joined by 60 Minutes's Morley Safer at Ralph Lauren and more recently, Dolce & Gabbana, is still filming for that video profile, and now Carine Roitfeld is being followed by a CNN crew in Milan and Paris for a Revealed show, to be aired after the Paris collections. >> THE MODELIZER -Agyness Deyn recently prompted rumors of retirement when she said of Fashion Week: "I do like doing it. But you know when you kind of have it figured out in your head that you don’t want to do this forever?" And it didn't help that days of runway shows passed, and no sign of Agy . . . until this evening. Damrosch Park Wintour-Approved; Tents Could Be Gone in the Future

>> Damrosch Park is the place of Fashion Week's future - for the next five years starting in 2010, anyway. Although she hasn't been thrilled about the location in the past, Anna Wintour seems to have come around: "We had obviously worn out our welcome at Bryant Park, so it’s very exciting to be going to someplace where they want us.” But how is everyone else seem to be taking the news?

Like Anna, editors are generally satisfied with the move - Glenda Bailey, editor of Harper’s Bazaar, too seemed excited. “How great that fashion is going to take center stage at Lincoln Center. It is where art meets culture . . . meets cabs.” Cathy Horyn suggested "a separate space for small or new designers - not unlike the set-up in London and Paris - to present their things during Fashion Week, rather than each of them staging a costly runway show."

Designers, on the other hand, are more reticent about the move, especially since it takes them farther away from the Garment District.
