>> In The Devil Wears Prada, the editor modeled after Anna Wintour mentions that if her job is ever threatened, she has a list of photographers, designers, stylists, and editors who she's helped over the years and who have pledged allegiance to her. There's no word on whether Anna actually has a list like that - although there are plenty of people whose careers she's helped - but Page Six Magazine proffers that it doesn't matter: "with her army of progeny installed in cushy Condé Nast jobs . . . Anna isn't going anywhere fast."

If you've ever been interested in Anna Wintour's family tree - from her first husband David Shaffer, who after learning of Anna's 1998 affair with current boyfriend Shelby Bryan called Bryan's wife to tell her "Your husband and my wife are f---ing," and all his relatives to Shelby Bryan and his descendents, it's a good rundown, from Bee and Charlie Shaffer to Alexis Bryan.

Alexis Bryan Morgan Leaving Elle After 10 Months for Lucky

>> Alexis Bryan Morgan, who joined Elle in January as fashion director (succeeding Nina Garcia), is leaving the magazine after ten months to become Lucky's executive fashion editor under new editor-in-chief Brandon Holley. “I’ve had several meetings with her and I love her ideas for the magazine,” Holley said of Morgan, who is currently expecting her second child. “She’s got a great sense of style and she fits perfectly with the path I’m setting here at Lucky.”

Holley also announced a few other hires: deputy editor Stephanie Trong, who most recently served as editorial director at Gilt Groupe; Laura Morgan, who was a contributing features editor at Harper’s Bazaar, in the newly-created role of special projects director; and Maura Randall, who worked with Holley at Yahoo! Shine, as online director.

>> Shakeups Up Top at Vogue, Elle -Danko Steiner, who has Vogue's design director for four years, announced last week he is leaving the magazine to pursue photography. Raul Martinez, founder of AR New York, has been chosen by Anna Wintour as creative consultant, stepping in to work with Vogue starting Dec. 1 (his work will appear in pages starting next Spring). And over a year and a half after Nina Garcia left Elle, Alexis Bryan Morgan has been named her successor as the magazine's fashion director starting January 2010. Morgan was most recently executive fashion director at Vanity Fair, and is the daughter of Anna Wintour's boyfriend, Shelby Morgan. [WWD, FWD]

Elle's Joe Zee, Kate Lanphear, and Anne Slowey Sound Off on Bloggers

>> Elle's fashion news director Anne Slowey has sounded off on bloggers - particularly Style Rookie's Tavi Gevinson, before - which then prompted her to take to Elle's blog to further expound on her comments. Last night at ELLEvated, a forum of six Elle editors hosted by WFIT (the Fashion Institute of Technology's radio and television broadcasting network) in New York, the subject came up again, and creative director Joe Zee and style director Kate Lanphear, too, put forth their views on bloggers.

When asked his feeling on the Tavi phenomenon, Zee replied:

"The Internet has allowed people to be 'couch critics.' You could sit anywhere in the world, you could sit in Oklahoma, look at a fashion show on the Internet, you could post your thoughts . . . the Internet has made fashion a lot more democratic in this way. You know, Tavi, like her or don't like her, she's 13 - whether she even really writes it herself, the idea that she has gotten all this attention, it's because of the Internet, not because of anything else. [At Elle] we're talking about people who have really done this their entire lives, who've really covered fashion, who really understand fashion . . . understand the history of fashion, can critique it from a point of view, [can] actually relay it back to something they've experienced and understand. I don't think Tavi even knows what happened five years ago. She has every right to [post] on the Internet, she has every right to have the following she has . . . everybody can follow her and find her creative or funny or quirky or inspiring, but the idea is there are people here [at Elle] who do know the history and I think that Anne [Slowey] stresses this. It's absolutely true: if you don't know what you're talking about, then do you really have the credibility to talk about it?"
