>> Alexander Wang presented his Fall 2012 collection to a packed-in house at Pier 94. All the notables were in attendance: Carine Roitfeld, Grace Coddington, Bill Cunningham, Giovanna Battaglia, and Franca Sozzani - just to name a few. Also in the house were notables of a different kind: supermodels Natasha Poly, Karolina Kurkova, Shalom Harlow, Carmen Kass, and Gisele Bundchen - who all walked the show. "He asked me and I'm very happy that I was able to be here," Bundchen told WWD from backstage.

One would think that all this would make for a very exciting, very satisfying runway show. And, it did - at least for those in the audience who could see it. Among those who couldn't? Cathy Horyn. "Each model, along with her outfit, dissolved in the darkness," the New York Times critic said in reference to the poorly lit runway.

But what of the clothing? Well, there was lots of leather. Super-shiny and pitch-black, it appeared on boxy, military-tinged coats, front-slit skirts, and slouchy riding pants. There were also sharp-looking trousers, lacquered tweed jackets, and gauzy, fringe-draped knits. And, for those who love a good Wang boot, this season's were knee-high with buckle straps.

A video that's making its way around the web shows an angry Gisele cursing after the Patriots' Super Bowl loss to the Giants. The supermodel didn't know she was being filmed. [Huffington Post]

Speaking of the Super Bowl, Vogue didn't charge Madonna to use its logo during her halftime show - in fact, Condé granted the singer permission to use the logo way back in early January. "We're so very grateful to Madonna to have been part of such a spectacular performance," Anna Wintour said. The performance was viewed by over 100 million people. [Styleite]

American Vogue isn't the only Condé glossy embracing the art of musical performance. In honor of the launch of French Vogue's new website, Emmanuelle Alt has filmed a video in which she dances and lip-synchs along to Wham's "Wake Me Up." Models Anja Rubik, Karmen Pedaru, Jasmine Tookes, and Kendra Spears serve as backup dancers. [French Vogue]

Alexander Wang will not be hosting his usual - and infamous - postshow party this Fashion Week. However, according to his publicists, the party will be back on next season. [The Cut]

"We started with the idea of tromp l'oeil, something quite classic but less in a whimsical way and more the idea of deceptive textures and patterns," Wang explains. Thus, the season's pencil skirts, structured jackets, and cropped trousers are punctuated with cleverly tactile details: peekaboo pleats, mesh knits "printed" with geometric burnouts, and fine wools coated with a suede-like metallic. Accessories include a clutch in the form of a jumbo eyeglass case and a miniature version of the Rocco bag called the "Rocky."

Marc Jacobs-Dior Talks Halt; Alexander Wang, Raf Simons, and Jason Wu Now Being Considered

>> Marc Jacobs, long the favorite to take over at Dior, may not be headed to the house after all. Talks between the two parties have once again halted, WWD reports, and Dior has stepped up both the pace and depth of negotiations with other designers - Alexander Wang, Raf Simons, and Jason Wu, in particular. Riccardo Tisci is also still in the mix, but given his strong momentum at Givenchy, is viewed as unlikely to be appointed.

Although last month, talks between Jacobs and Dior were said to be progressing - Bernard Arnault reportedly flew into Manhattan to meet with Jacobs - and there was no explosive breakdown, Arnault and Dior recently decided to move onto another scenario - in part because Jacobs requested that he take his Vuitton design team to Dior, which would leave Vuitton without creative support, and Phoebe Philo, the preferred candidate to take over at Vuitton, reportedly prefers to continue at Celine.

The Dior search is said to be focused on finding a designer - young or mature - with an affinity and respect for the brand's glamorous DNA, and a vision for taking it forward, post-Galliano. However, one source told WWD: “It is not impossible that [Arnault] resumes his talks with Marc.”

Versace and H&M Go Big For Collaboration Runway Extravaganza

>> In honor of their upcoming Versace For H&M collaboration - in stores and online Nov. 17 - the two brands pulled together three events in one last night at New York's Pier 57. Through a gilded hall of mirrors, designers (Anna Sui, Joseph Altuzarra, Christopher Kane), supermodels (Linda Evangelista, Helena Christensen), and other such notables (Uma Thurman, Chloe Moretz, Nicki Minaj, Prince) were swept into a dark room framing a serpentine catwalk, on which Versace favorites like Abbey Lee Kershaw, Natasha Poly, Lindsey Wixson, and Daphne Groeneveld wore black leather headscarves, heavy kohl, and stomped to speaker-pumping music.

Cue the next: After her runway bow, Donatella Versace gestured guests to follow her into a green-lit, disco ball-hung room covered in oversized palm tree wallpaper. Minaj took the mic - dressed in Versace for H&M, of course - and inspired Alexander Wang to sing along in the audience to every song. Much to Donatella's pleasure - and Natasha Poly's, who sat on the shoulders of a friend so she could videotape the set on her phone - Prince was up next on stage. Versace fist-pumped when Prince gave her a shout-out, clapped above her head . . . and that was before his encore of "Purple Rain."

Finally, the last of the three-prong event: crowds that had been lining up before Prince even took the stage were unleashed into the shopping area. As Style.com notes, "Many of the women in the crowd made beelines for the collection's men's clothes."

Alexander Wang on the Dior Rumors, What He's Rolling Out Next

>> After recent rumors that LVMH could be interested in buying a stake in Alexander Wang (or that he is being considered for a design role at Christian Dior or Louis Vuitton), what does the designer have to say for himself on the matter? Nothing - he declined to respond - aside from a "nervous giggle," WWD reports.

Emphasizing his pride at growing a company without external financing, he didn't rule out the possibility of a future alliance: “I always take a meeting, and I always want to hear what people have to offer, but at the same time, I’ve been very content with focusing on our own brand. If I was to do something else, I would want to do something that would be completely different from me. Sometimes you don’t get to say all you want to say in your brand. When the right opportunity comes, it will present itself in a way that I’ll be inspired by it. But right now, it’s not like, ‘Oh I’m after that house, I want to do that.’”

Currently, he's focusing on expanding into new categories, like home lifestyle accessories, he said.

LVMH Rumored to Be Eyeing Alexander Wang

>> Alexander Wang and Love partnered for the designer's annual blowout after-party, held last night at Pier 40. This year's theme? "I've always wanted to have a frat party," Wang told The Cut.

Glow sticks, greek letters, and fridges packed with 40s of beer greeted guests, who were also served Kanon Organic Vodka jello shots, burgers, and hot dogs. Inside the makeshift frat house - walls plastered with vintage Playboy centerfolds - people performed keg stands, played beer pong, and competed at the game Everybody Dance on Sony PlayStations. Later, Tyler the Creator and Odd Future performed as spurts of champagne rained over the crowd.
