Agyness Deyn's Sunset Song

Agyness Deyn will play the heroine in a film adaptation of Sunset Song, a 1930s novel about a woman running a family farm in the face of growing economic pressure.

Deyn's role as Chris Guthrie, the movie's female protagonist, is her first lead in a major motion picture. Terence Davies will direct the film and Peter Mullan has been cast as Deyn's costar. Filming will start later this year.

"When I read the script I fell completely in love with the character and the story," Deyn said. "I can't wait to get started and just hope that I can do Chris Guthrie justice!"

Deyn has starred in a number of short films and played Aphrodite in the 2010 movie Clash of the Titans. This Spring she landed a role in a British production of The Leisure Society. Take a look at all her roles - onscreen and off - in the gallery.

This Week's Best Dressed

>> The first full week of Spring brought plenty of inspiring new-season styles - and even a few surprises.

Brooklyn Decker traded in her usual low-key ensembles for a plethora of out-of-this-world designer looks: Giambattista Valli, Isabel Marant, and Stella McCartney each made appearances at photocalls for the actress's new film, Battleship. Models Miranda Kerr, Lara Stone, Candice Swanepoel, Karolina Kurkova, Agyness Deyn, Jessica White, and a newly-brunette Jessica Stam were also all spotted out and about - and though each looked just as chic as ever, it was their two very pregnant colleagues, Molly Sims and Lily Aldridge, who really stole the show.

There were also plenty of standout casual styles spotted on the streets - Elizabeth Olsen and Emma Roberts each looked effortless in transitional coat-and-trouser ensembles, and Kate Moss and Jessica Alba each sported rose-hued jeans.

However, perhaps it was Elletra Wiedemann who most aptly captured the week's prevailing mood, when at an event hosted by Vogue and Tod's. She exclaimed, "I really just wanted to dress up!"

Man About Town Dedicates Issue to Hedi Slimane's Los Angeles; Dasha Zhukova to Guest Edit Vogue Russia's June 2011 Art Issue

Plus, there's a spread of a tomboy Agyness Deyn - a preview of the issue above and in the video below. “This issue is all about the creative or artistic community in Los Angeles, not the well-known Hollywood side, but rather the subcultures, something like a tribute to ‘indie California,’ ” Slimane explained to Style.com. "The LA portfolio might be somehow one of the most personal and intimate projects I have done in ten years."

And speaking of dedicated issues, Dasha Zhukova, who is rumored to be launching a new magazine, is set to be guest editor of Vogue Russia's June 2011 Art Issue. A preview can be seen here.

Agyness Deyn Returns to Blonde and British Vogue

>> Agyness Deyn is back on the scene - and so is the bleach blonde crop that originally helped make her a model of the moment. After sporting a buzz cut and then a dirty blonde shag in recent months, Deyn was snapped last week with a lighter shade and more feminine cut.

Deyn is also slowly working her way back into modelling: she's in Vogue UK's May 2011 issue - her first appearance in the magazine in two years - shot by Tim Walker in the Namib Desert. But she's not giving up those film ambitions. James Franco recently shot her for a project, and though she remains coy about upcoming work, Deyn says: "I've done some short films last year, which were great, and I worked with amazing people. I've got a few projects coming up."

After Veruschka at Giles, What Does Katie Grand Have in Store Casting-Wise at Louis Vuitton and Emanuel Ungaro?

>> Katie Grand is known for cultivating unique model casts - last season at Giles and Louis Vuitton, both of which she styles, there was a proliferation of Victoria's Secret models on the runway. And while she brought back some of those "curvier" girls for Giles again this season - Alessandra Ambrosio, Ana Beatriz Barros, Anne Vyalitsyna, Noemie Lenoir, plus Sports Illustrated models Jessica Hart, Abbey Clancy (who is pregnant), and Julie Ordon - also peppered in were Agyness Deyn, who shaved her hair into a mohawk for the show, Amber Le Bon, British model and TV presenter Kelly Brook, and 71-year-old Veruschka, who closed the show.

Grand is working with Giles Deacon on his debut collection for Emanuel Ungaro this season - so surely the cast will be special for that occasion - although the only hint that came is not model-related: Deacon is working with edgy London label Sibling on knits for the show. And as for Vuitton, all Grand would say was: “[Marc Jacobs] said, ‘I’ve got all these beautiful clothes for Vuitton - what on earth are we going to do with them?’”

Alexander Wang Ditches the Black "Uniform," Goes Light for Spring 2011

>> When Alexander Wang took a trip to check out the retail contemporary floors, he was struck by the fact that “everyone’s doing the same skinny jean, long tee, leather motorcycle jacket. It’s become a uniform. Too much.” It was time for a change. So no more of the "urban thing of a pair of tiny shorts and a big top -the inverted triangle," he said. "We turned it upside down this season.”

He also did without black for Spring 2011: “I thought it’s time to do something optimistic and pure.” Which meant that his models - including Karolina Kurkova, Agyness Deyn, and Omahyra Mota in a runway return - went without makeup and had their eyebrows bleached and what looked like White-out applied in their hair.

The collection had a construction theme - pieces derived from painter's overalls, worker's boots, and duct tape detailing - reflective of Wang's current state of mind: he just added a new floor to his office, is renovating a Tribeca apartment, and is working on his first retail location. And it marked the debut of his first in-house print, made by having his staff and interns doodle on a 5-foot-by-5-foot sheet of paper in the studio.

Mulberry's Glastonbury Book Launch Brings Out Models Galore

Last night's Mulberry-sponsored party celebrating the launch of Venetia Dearden's book Glastonbury, Another Stage at Milk Studios's penthouse was chock-full of statuesque revelers, though two models in particular seemed to steer clear of each other. Agyness Deyn stayed ensconced with a group of friends, while on the other side of the bash her ex-fiance Albert Hammond, Jr. held hands - possibly in a friendly way? - with Irina Lazareanu. Elsewhere, Alek Wek and Jacquelyn Jablonski mingled near Chanel Iman and her boyfriend Ryan Leslie. Leigh Lezark and Michelle Trachtenberg arrived together and stayed attached at the hip throughout the night. In the spirit of Venetia's publication, the event was complete with an indoor teepee and there was music aplenty. Brooklyn's Chairlift was the main attraction, with London socialite Jackson Scott's flamenco guitar act Mano de Dios as the opener.
