First Gap for Fall 2008, and now British fashion accessories chain Accessorize: The latter campaign may have been styled by Russian Vogue's Simon Robbins and shot in Greenwich Village, but I never really took Julia for a catalogue girl.

Carolina Herrera Spring 2012

>> Carolina Herrera's Spring 2012 collection, full of sparrow prints and linear motifs, “started with the Bauhaus,” she said, citing “the modernity of lines and the fluidity.” As Nicki Minaj and Anna Wintour sat next to each other front row, Herrera sent out fluid mint green dresses and architectural embroideries. The color palette - largely jade green, rusty red, and sunny yellow - came from the Bakelite bangles that were used to accessorize the collection, she said.

Peep the Exclusive Pieces from the Rodarte Pitti Presentation

>> Kate and Laura Mulleavy are huge fans of Florence. “We have spent countless hours dreaming of the poetic city, every detail magnified by our own curiosity and imagination,” explains Laura. Fitting then, that they are guest designers at Pitt W in Florence this year. Today, their much anticipated Pre-Spring 2012 presentation of 10 elaborate gowns - detailed with Swarovski crystals, tulle, and feathers - was unveiled in a disused building in central Florence amongst neon light constructions. Inspired by Fra Angelico’s frescoes, the monks’ cells at the convent of San Marco, and Bernini’s The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, the 10 dresses are also accessorized with a hand-forged gold head-piece, belts and breastplates. But what will happen to the collection after this stint in Italy? Elle confirms that following Pitti, the dresses will be on permanent display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Prada Resort 2012

>> Fans of the Prada lip print, rejoice - it's back in mini form on skirts, dresses, tops, and bags for Miuccia Prada's Resort 2012 collection. But it's not the only print in the collection by a long shot - grids, '60s floral brights, dots, and even lace fill out the offering. Prada accessorized each look with a printed foulard and/or beret, and lady-like pumps, mules, or sandals - no chunky platforms in sight.

>> I usually find gladiator boots, gladiator sandals and the like to be really unflattering. This pair of gladiator boots by Marc Jacobs, however, I really like. The gladiator reference is more nuanced -- they almost look more like motorcycle boots with big cutouts. They can also transition the seasons -- they'd look great with colored tights peeping through the cutouts for fall, or with bare skin peeping through for spring. These gladiator boots escape the kill -- this time around, at least.

>> For Chanel's 2012 Cruise collection, Karl Lagerfeld orchestrated an elaborate showing held in Antibes, France, which kicked off with an open-air, family-style dinner - attended by Vanessa Paradis, Stella Tennant, Anna Mouglalis, and Blake Lively, to name a few - and closed with a surprise concert by Bryan Ferry after the show. The collection itself took center stage: floral prints, embellished dropped-waist dresses, palazzo pants, languid gowns, shift dresses, and even thong boots, which Karl dubbed as “tango thongs.” All evoked a fresh vintage feel. Adam Lippes Serves Up Functional Fresh Pieces With a Twist For Fall 2011

>> "The starting point in designing every collection is the woman who wears my clothes," said Adam Lippes, post-show. His ADAM collection, inspired by a recent visit to the National Museum of the American Indian, called out to the city girl, constantly on the go, working and loving life. Seventies-inspired utilitarian pieces like silk pleated skirts, wide-leg wool trousers, and delicate lace tops were given a fun twist with bold plaid prints and soft feminine hues. Meanwhile, ethnic print skirts, fringed-embellished hand-knit sweaters, and decadent soft mohair blanket coats hark back to Lippes’s main inspiration point. For eveningwear, the designer created sheer lace gowns and a punchier gold embroidered dress. This one’s definitely calling to what Lippes describes as the woman who wants to be “that girl”; especially when she’s accessorizing with geek chic glasses, scrunched socks, and Manolo Blahnik pumps.

Bright Silks and Velvet Loafers Take Over Jenni Kayne’s Fall 2011 Runway

>> Jenni Kayne, awaiting the birth of her second child, was too pregnant to make the trip from California to New York to show her Fall 2011 collection at Milk Studios today - but the show must go on. True to her modern quirky girl aesthetic, Kayne delivered a collection inspired by “a cool girl at her country house,” which in Kayne’s world, means feathered skirts, fur collars, nubby sweaters, leather shirt dresses, and clean tailored jackets. And it all works - blame it on the magnificent jewel-toned velvet loafers worn with every look. The obvious highlight of the collection were Kayne’s fluid silks, comprising trousers, long bias-cut skirts, and dresses dipped in hot pink, nude, cobalt, mustard, and a rich chocolate brown. Stylist Keegan Singh accessorized with minimal yet high-impact pieces in the way of fur cossack hats and retro sunnies, all adding to that cool-with-a-twist factor Kayne is renowned for.
