Suno Resort 2014: Fun, Period

If Suno's Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis are feeling any pressure as a result of winning the CFDA's Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent in Womenswear earlier this month, you can't tell it from their Resort 2014 collection. In fact, this collection seems to epitomize everything that this design duo does best: pattern-mixing, interesting yet wearable silhouettes, and an unmistakable feeling of fun.

What else would one call the first dress in this collection, which mixes brown and blue stripes and a heart print with a blue lattice? What better way to characterize the plaid t-shirt with a spray of florals around the collar, or the blue-and-white striped jumpsuit with floral patch pockets? Even the fresh eye they've turned to fabric combinations (we're referring to the polka-dotted silk-polyester blend and, of course, the short-sleeved vinyl dress) seems more like a charming wink than a commitment to experiment with new territory. Not that we would mind if they did.

ICB Resort 2014: A Love Letter to South Africa by Way of Solange Knowles

It's no strange thing for a designer's work to inspire a music video, but until Prabal Gurung said he took cues for ICB's Resort 2014 collection from Solange Knowles's video for her single "Losing You," we'd rarely heard of it happening the other way around.

The video, which Knowles shot in the streets of Cape Town, South Africa, gave Gurung a starting point for the colors and patterns in this collection - one of which is based on the wallpaper of one of the buildings in the video.

But while the clothes are vibrant, they're also fairly grounded. Gurung wanted the clothes to make sense for November, when Resort collections end up in stores, so while there are healthy shots of bright red, emerald green, and sapphire, there's also a lot of black. The shapes, while edgy, are wearable and fun - like a striped bomber jacket with generous sleeves and a green and blue dress with an asymmetrical skirt.

Michael Kors Earns Far Less Than We Thought Although the Michael Kors brand is valued at $12.38 billion, it is reported that Kors himself only makes $7.6 million, a 46.6 percent pay cut over last year's $13.6 million. The decrease for the brand's honorary chairman, chief creative officer, and director comes even after the brand's IPO success.

Dolce, Gabbana Found Guilty and Sentenced in Tax Evasion Case

An Italian judge has found designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana guilty of tax evasion, and on Wednesday sentenced both men to serve one year and eight months in prison.

Reuters reports that the designers weren't in the room when judge Antonella Brambilla handed down the decision, and they're expected to appeal their sentences - which will only add more time to a legal saga the men have been engaged in for years.

The initial charges in the case stem from the 2004 sale of their brand to a Luxembourg-based holding company called Gado, which the Italian Tax Authority claims was orchestrated to help the company avoid paying taxes on more than $1 billion worth of assets in Italy. The designers and their executives have always vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

Whether the designers or the five other members of their staff found guilty in the case will actually serve jail time remains to be seen.

The Style Set: This Week's Most Fashionable Partygoers

Let's hear it for the boys. So far, this week's most stylish parties have focused mostly on the work of men's designers - or designers who happen to be men. London this weekend saw the presentation of the Spring 2014 menswear collections by designers like Sibling and Alexander McQueen, and the coordinating parties drew dapper dudes and stylish women alike. Model Arizona Muse showed up at a party Esquire threw with Jimmy Choo, and Tommy Hilfiger and his wife Dee were spotted attending the shows.

Stateside, jewelry designer Phillip Crangi toasted the launch of his collaboration with Liberty United, alongside his sister Courtney Crangi, Jenna Lyons, and Prabal Gurung, among others. A look at those parties and more, here in the gallery.
