Gucci Taps Blake Lively

After a stint as the face of Chanel's Mademoiselle ads, Blake Lively has been named as the face of a whole new campaign — for a whole new house.

After a stint as the face of Chanel's Mademoiselle ads, Blake Lively has been named as the face of a whole new campaign — for a whole new house.

Gucci has tapped Lively to front the campaign for its newest fragrance, Gucci Première, which hits stores worldwide in September. While there's no word if Lively and Lagerfeld are still chummy, the actress has definitely won over Gucci's helmer, Frida Giannini. "She is a girl of extraordinary beauty and she's a girl who loves fashion," Giannini stated. "Although she's young, she's also very determined, and I liked this spirit.…She knows how to be a diva in the right sense, with an aspirational glamour."

The admiration is apparently mutual. "I couldn't be more proud to be working with Gucci and its heart, Frida," Lively said.

As for the campaign, it will include black-and-white images photographed by Mert & Marcus, as well as a short film directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. The print ads — which will appear in the UK first — will reportedly feature the actress wearing a sequined dress whilst looking out over the glimmering lights of Los Angeles, while the film will include footage of the actress in the Mojave Desert, as well as getting ready for a Hollywood premiere. The film will make its debut at this year's Venice Film Festival.

Mulberry Fall 2012 Ad Campaign

Mulberry's Fall 2012 collection — with its furry coats and hypertextured knits — was rife with fantasy. It was, after all, inspired in part by one of the most fantastic children's tomes ever: Where the Wild Things Are. Fitting then that the brand's Fall 2012 ad campaign would follow those same imaginative themes. Shot by Tim Walker in England's Blackheath Forest (a place whose very name can't help but conjure fairy-tale visions), the images feature a Mulberry-clad Lindsey Wixson surrounded by a host of larger-than-life monsters and beasts.

Alexa Chung For Maje Fall 2012 Ad Campaign

After Madewell, Lacoste, Pepe, Superga, and DKNY Jeans, Alexa Chung can add yet another brand to her ever-growing campaign list: Maje. The French brand — whose previous campaign ambassadors include Lara Mullen and Vanessa Traina — has tapped the Brit style star as the face of its Fall 2012 campaign. Shot by photographer Glen Luchford at the Porte des Lilas Metro station in Paris, the black-and-white images feature a bed-headed Chung lounging on an empty train, and are meant to call to mind a moody '60s-era film. "Alexa embodies a modern heroine with style and charm," the brand explained in a statement. "Elegant yet edgy, her attitude reflects a personality that is both glamorous and rock 'n' roll."

Chung, for her part, is equally pleased. "I am thrilled to be the face of Maje," she said. "It's a brand I love and wear, so to be asked was a huge compliment."

Remember the $8 million, specially built locomotive Marc Jacobs sent barreling down the Fall 2012 Louis Vuitton runway? It's back, and this time, it serves as the backdrop of the house's Fall 2012 ad campaign. "We wanted to continue the journey we started with the fashion show — the glamour of travel and the romance of going somewhere," Jacobs explained. To do so, the train was deconstructed and shipped to a New York studio where it was rebuilt, filled with models, and photographed by Steven Meisel. "We wanted to maintain the comfortingly luxurious and old-fashioned journey that the collection represented. Opulence, the brocades, the beautiful cuts of the suits, and I guess, the distant romantic glamour of travel," Jacobs said.

Up-and-comers Gabriella Wilde and Roo Panes star in Burberry's just-released Fall 2012 ad campaign, which — with its rain-soaked streets and fog-smudged backgrounds — is a striking homage to Britain's notoriously gloomy weather.

"We wanted to play with everything that's at the heart of the Burberry world – celebrating our brand and London through imagery, film, music, weather and our iconic outerwear, all in a very poetic and British way," chief creative officer Christopher Bailey said of the images, which were photographed by Mario Testino on the campus of Greenwich's Royal Naval College. "We shot the series of cinematic, emotive black-and-white images and short films with the incredibly talented Gabriella Wilde and Roo Panes, who effortlessly bring the campaign and our collections to life across all of our platforms," Bailey explained.

While the campaign's short films won't be released until later this season, here's a peek at the Fall 2012 images.
