Quote Of The Day: Pheobe Philo Discusses Her Plans For Celine

From a design point of view, it’s very considered, and when it’s merchandised and styled, I hope it’s accessible.
From a design point of view, it’s very considered, and when it’s merchandised and styled, I hope it’s accessible. I want to make the experience of buying and wearing clothes an easy experience. There’s a soberness to it, and a classicism to it. I hope the pieces will be relevant for a while to come.

The first full week after the holidays has proven to be quite interesting, today more Fall 09 Fashion Week news unfolds...

Yesterday, it was announced that Peter Som had split from his backers at Creative Design Studio. Today we discover that Som will still produce his Fall 09 collection although it will not be shown during New York Fashion Week.

The following designers are slated to show in the tents at Bryant Park this season; Adam by Adam Lippes, Monarchy, William Rast, Barbie, George Chakra, Tommy Hilfiger, Yigal Azrouel, Brian Reyes, and J. Mendel are among the fifty-odd designers on the official Bryant Park schedule.

The highly-anticipated Celine Fall 09 collection in which Pheobe Philo was thought to make her debut as Creative Director of the brand is now in question. Rumors circulate that Philo is clashing with new management prompting representatives at Celine to comment, "Pheobe's debut show will be in October".

Thirteen of Japan's most prominent up-and-coming designers will show in New York on January 27th. Normally, one might worry that everyone will be in Paris for the couture shows--but, as we know, that shouldn't be a problem this season

A Change Of Hands: A Recap Of Brands Under New Leadership This Season

One of the more exciting things to watch for during Fashion Week are those brands and fashion houses that have recently come under new leadership.

One of the more exciting things to watch for during Fashion Week are those brands and fashion houses that have recently come under new leadership. With Fashion Week just a few months away, we think this list will get anyone's heart racing...

Print expert and all-around bright-ray-of-fashion-sunshine Matthew Williamson left Pucci after his first season with the brand. Click here to see the Spring 2009 Pucci collection, and, to learn more about his departure, check out Fashionologie's report.

Just last week it was announced that Amanda Wakeley's Spring 09 collection would be presented without her. This season's Fall 09 presentation should be a chilly one. Click here to see Wakeley's Spring 09 collection

Pheobe Philo resigned from her position as Creative Director at Chloe in 2006 so that she could spend more time with her family. Philo recently signed on to become Celine's new Creative Director (with the stipulation that she could work from London) and her debut collection for the brand will hit the catwalks in Paris this March. There were no departures more dramatic than those at Valentino and Bill Blass. In both cases, news broke in the midst of Fashion Week madness and, in the case of Bill Blass, it followed that the company was liquidating. Though Blass is no longer, Valentino lives on. Let's just hope this season is a peaceful one.
