New York designer Adam Lippes showed his Fall 2009 collection in the tents at Bryant Park this season, and sent a array of young, enthusiastic, Asian-inspired looks down the runway. We caught a glimpse of his collection at the Paul Wilmot Communications press preview last week, and although our little camera never captures the real-life quality of these designs, we couldn't resist a shoutout. Not shown on the runway were 1st delivery multi-colored Georgette silk pieces that should definitely fare well while the leaves are turning. Check out our snapshot of that print along with a few others in the gallery below.
Last week we stopped by the Paul Wilmot Communications Fall 2009 press preview and caught a glimpse of next season's LAMB handbag range. Always a crowd pleaser, these colorful, graphic bags have earned their spot in the contemporary market over the past few years. This season called up their signature retro shapes and color combinations, our favorites were zebra printed with a cobalt and yellow strap closure. Check out our snapshots from the new collection below.
Marc Jacobs is reportedly engaged to his boyfriend, Lorenzo Martone. The couple will officially announce their engagement today in Brazil.
Paul Wilmot Communications is poised to open a Los Angeles office, and will announce new clients in the coming weeks.
We only had a moment with the racks of clothing from Monique Lhuillier's Spring 09 collection--there was, in other words, a line of people waiting to touch her floor-sweeping frocks. If there ever were a woman to make, you know, the dress of your life, she would be it. If you think that dress might be white, you might want to take a look at the Spring 09 Monique Lhuillier bridal collection. This Spring 09 has Lhuillier all over it. We can't say we are quite as familiar anymore with the clothing by L.A.M.B., but maybe that's just because those handbags seem to be jumping out at us on every corner. In the beautifully arranged accessories room we jumped straight for the L.A.M.B. handbags because we knew people would want a better look at the prints and shapes to deliver this summer. Our favorite were the chic 70's block print bags that look as sophisticated as any vintage hand-me-down from your mom's designer storage. On every press preview or showroom visit we seem to learn about a new brand we haven't heard of before. Poleci, granted, is a brand we know many people are familiar with (they've a store in the MePa in New York), but we just happened to have missed the boat on this one. To make up for it we checked out their Spring 09 collection which had some really great colors and easy to wear pieces. When we did a little bit of research, we found them on elleH.com, and realized how reasonable was their price point. Check out Poleci Fall 08 on elleH.com right here and our gallery of the Spring 09 collection right here.
The embroidery on the Spring 09 pieces from Naeem Khan were outstanding, in fact, they look like they could have been, you know, behind glass. Naeem Khan is one of those designers, after all, who outfits very wealthy, very put-together women, but who you don't hear name-dropped all over town. There is no wild buzz around his runway shows at New York Fashion Week, there are no mass-market knock offs. This Spring 09, everything that Khan sent down the runway was absolutely stunning--he's just one of those designers that's kind of beyond trend, that just is who he is and designs how he does and people wear his dresses on the red carpet and that's, you know, that.
