Paris Fall 2012 Couture Week has kicked off with Gianni Versace, Christian Dior, and Giambattista Valli showing off their gorgeous haute creations for the upcoming season. Raf Simons made his highly anticipated debut at Christian Dior, and stylish celebrities like Olivia Palermo and Marion Cotillard came out to support the designer and see the show. Watch today's Fab Flash to see the front-row fashion.
Paris Fashion Week may be winding down, but the front-row fashion shows no signs of slowing. At Louis Vuitton, Sarah Jessica Parker lit up the room in a white lace Louis Vuitton dress and shoes, Fenton bracelets, and Fred Leighton earrings. And over at Valentino, Nicky Hilton paired her sweet but sexy Valentino frock with Christian Louboutin pumps and a ring from Nicholai by Nicky Hilton. Christian Dior's new cover girl, Mila Kunis, opted for the designer du jour, and Jessica Alba perfected her cocktail attire in a one-shoulder, embellished Lanvin mini. See all of these gorgeous looks in today's Fab Flash! On Allison McNamara: Madewell.
Paris Fashion Week is wrapping up quite nicely, and although we've approached the Fall 2012 collection homestretch, our favorite front-row fixtures haven't slowed down on bringing their style A-game. It's an inspiring mix of polished elegance, eclectic cool, and slick street-style ensembles. To our point, check out Sarah Jessica Parker in sexy-chic white lace at Louis Vuitton, Poppy Delevigne working the quintessential furry-topper-and-leather-pants combo, and Natalia Vodianova showing off a luxe shift also in Louis Vuitton's front row. It may be our last day at PFW, but there's still plenty more to see — click on for the rest of Paris Fashion Week's standout front-row style.
Last night, we got a front-row look at Hollywood's best and brightest dressed in their Oscars best, but across the pond — namely, Milan — Fashion Week is still going strong. There, we're being treated to a different, albeit equally cool, brand of front-row style. It's a mix of zany couture, downtown chic-and-tailored, and the fashion-forward, thanks to the likes of Anna Dello Russo, Chloë Moretz, and Taylor Tomasi Hill. We also spotted Helen Mirren rocking a fierce floral frock at Dolce & Gabbana and Caroline Issa looking too cute in cropped coral trousers on her way into Missoni. Click through to glean some refreshed takes on Spring styling now, courtesy of one seriously stylish front-row crew.
>> It's all happening. The couture shows are here — and with them comes a fresh batch of street style to admire. Among the super-chic in attendance this season? Elettra Wiedemann, Elizabeth Olsen, and a leather jacket-clad Vanessa Paradis (left) — who turned up to Chanel solo but remained vague about the rumors regarding her split with Johnny Depp. Click through to see the best looks captured in and around the shows, with more to come as the week goes on.
Marchesa's Spring 2012 show was full of the red-carpet gowns we love, and its front row filled with the starlets who wear them. Emma Roberts, Camilla Belle, Olivia Palermo, and Naomi Campbell counted among the beauties who attended the show at the Plaza Hotel. FabSugar: How would you describe your personal style?
Maggie Rizer: Eclectic. Artistic but wearable, like I have all-American style but I love Yohji Yamamoto.
FS: Who are some of your favorite designers?
MR: Yohji, again. Nicolas Ghesquiere [of Balenciaga], Anna Sui.
FS: What shows are you looking forward to?
MR: I'm excited to see Rebecca Taylor. It's so pretty!
FS: What projects are you working on, since you're not doing runway anymore?
MR: A few things here and there. I live in San Francisco now with my husband.
FS: We love San Francisco!
MR: Oh me too! It's so beautiful! We go up to Napa, Mendocino.
FS: Pt. Reyes?
MR: Yes, totally. We were just there. My husband is a sailboat racer so we love being near the water.
FS: Are you a sailor too?
MR: No, I'm horrible! I don't like manual labor.
FS: If you weren't a model, what would you be?
MR: I always wanted to be a veterinarian. But I'm really glad I'm a model!
BCBGMAXAZRIA is the first major show of Fashion Week, and the energy was high this morning. Kelly Rowland, Ashanti, and Maggie Rizer sat front row for a collection that promised to fulfill a "desire for simplicity" while providing "modern elegance." That translated into long, diaphanous dresses, many of which were backless or belted, soft layers, and a mostly neutral palette with a few pops of bright orange and purple. While the longer, looser proportions and turtlenecks didn't make for an overtly sexy show, there was a definite sensuality evoked through the sheer fabrics and the play of layers. FabSugarTV was able to chat with the designer behind the scenes, and here are the main highlights from the show:
- Trends: Clean, modest sensibility, tissue-thin turtlenecks, sculptural details like sheer panels, asymmetric hems, cutout shoulders, and colorblocking.
- Colors: Palette of neutrals: cream, beige, and navy, with pops of orange and purple.
- Key Look: Minimal silk dress worn with a thin turtleneck and boots.
- Accessories: '70s-style suede and leather boots.
- Who Would Wear It: Artsy types who crave simplicity and modest sensuality.
