>> The rumors that Erin Wasson's RVCA line is no longer have finally been addressed by both parties. According to RVCA founder and creative director Pat Tenore: “The current rumors are completely incorrect and misleading statements. RVCA and Erin have not parted ways indefinitely. Erin is part of the RVCA family, and we hope to work with her on new collaborations in the near future.”
Though Wasson's contract with the brand technically expires at the end of the year, there will be no Spring 2011 Erin Wasson x RVCA collection. Added RVCA marketing director Brian Garofalow: “[The] agreement was for a time term, expiring 12/31/10. The term expires in between the development and go-to-market processes for [Spring 2011], so both parties opted not to develop the season as part of our current agreement.”
>> Billabong announced that it was acquiring RVCA for an undisclosed amount last week, and now it sounds like Erin Wasson x RVCA wasn't part of the deal. Fashionista reports that Wasson's contract with RVCA has ended and was not renewed.
A source within the company says RVCA dropped Wasson's line because her team was difficult to work with. “Total chaos and the epitome of unorganized,” the source added. Whether Wasson's less-than-well-received Fall 2010 collection will be her last, or whether there will be one more could not be confirmed. Wasson's rep had "no comment" on the matter.
>> New York Fashion Week Tidbits: Rodarte, Alexander Wang Working with Nick Knight on Films, and more —Alexander Wang and Laura and Kate Mulleavy must have liked the video of Raquel Zimmermann writhing among snakes that Nick Knight produced for the backdrop of Alexander McQueen's Spring 2010 show: Knight is said to be working with both Wang and Rodarte on fashion films for their upcoming shows. Erin Wasson, meanwhile, is said to be inspired by Jimi Hendrix for her upcoming RVCA collection, and Cushnie et Ochs are collaborating with Albertus Swanepoel on hats for Fall 2010. One month after its alleged launch date, the Erin Wasson for RVCA Spring 2009 collection is finally hitting the retail floor. We hear that the collection just landed on shelves at Opening Ceremony in New York, although the pieces are not on their just-launched e-commerce site yet. As for other e-commerce retailers, a source at La Garconne tell us that they've just received the goods and will be shooting them and putting them online within the next week or so.
