As caught up as we might be with the Fall 2009 season, we can't help but notice all of the best Spring 2009 pieces appearing online. Particularly noticeable are the bad girl frocks that appeared on the Spring catwalks by way of transparency, cut-out details, and body-con silhouettes. Judging by the House of Holland number M.I.A. wore to the Grammy's this weekend, and the $12,000 dollar white Balmain frock which is already sold out on Net-a-Porter--we're pretty sure we're not alone in our love for this trend.
One of our favorite styling tricks from the Fall 08 season is matching opaque tights and statement shoes--if you can manage to put these together, the rest of your outfit can be simple and classic. Whether it's a pair of cut-out sandals, covered platforms, or lace-up booties, grab a pair of opaque hosiery to match your favorite shoes for the season and you'll be good to go.
We've been running around this city, freezing our little mitts off, while our Network is busy at work--Today SheFinds reviewed Planet Botanicals Body Balm which sounds to us like a winter-skin dream come true. Trust Your Style admits her obsession with pin cushion fruits and veggies which is just about the sweetest, and most non-controversial obsession we've ever heard of. Meanwhile, The Beauty Of Life was up to to some mid-week funny business, finding different uses for MAC makeup remover wipes and Shoe Smitten gushed over a pair of cherry red Marc Jacobs cut out heels.
You could say cut outs are a sibling to lace (another big trend for Fall 08) or that it's a literal take on our economic climate...either way, cut outs are everywhere this season. As simple as the formula is, we like the fact that this trend works to makes even the most classic pair of black boots into a high design statement. Our only concern is the cold winter months, when the sides of our feet, backs of our shoulders, and ribcage starts freezing--which brings us to an greater point; the importance of layering this season.
