>> Newcomer Anthony Vaccarello, the 31-year-old Paris-based Belgian designer who just presented his first show in March during Paris Fashion Week, has won the 2011 ANDAM prize.

Vaccarello, who beat out fellow nominees Adam Kimmel, Commuun, Jeremy Laing, Matthew Harding, and Yiqing Yin, takes home 200,000 euros ($288,540), plus 10,000 euros ($14,427) worth of Swarovski crystals to use on his Spring 2012 collection. "This award is a vote of confidence for me, and it means I can continue to show. Perhaps this will help me find a financial partner," the designer said.

He was previously recruited by Karl Lagerfeld to Fendi, where he spent two years before starting his own label, and for his debut show in March, he worked with Alex de Betak (who typically produces shows for global brands like Dior) on a psychedelic light show; Emmanuelle Alt (who also happened to be part of this year's ANDAM jury panel) was front row.

>> Turkish Designer Hakaan Yildirim Takes Home 2010 ANDAM Prize —After one London Fashion Week show, Hakaan is moving into the big leagues, scoring ANDAM's €220,000 prize (approx. $270,000, up €60,000 from last year's prize) for 2010. It doesn't hurt that Hakaan has friend and collaborator Mert Alas in his corner: Carine Roitfeld, who headed up this year's ANDAM jury, came to London specifically for Hakaan's show on the advice of Alas. Alas likely also had something to do with the show's all-star cast of Lara Stone, Natalia Vodianova, Mariacarla Boscono, Natasha Poly, and Anja Rubik. This morning, the ANDAM jury, presided over this year by Carine Roitfeld and including Alber Elbaz, Hilary Alexander, Colette's Sarah Lerfel, Jefferson Hack, and Opening Ceremony's Humberto Leon, named six nominees for the 2010 prize. Among them are: Mark Fast, known for casting "plus-size" models in his body-conscious knit dresses; couturier and Thierry Mugler alum Alexandre Vauthier; Turkish designer Hakaan Tildirim, whose last show attracted Kate Moss and Roitfeld in the audience and Lara Stone and Natalia Vodianova on the runway; Francesco Scognamiglio, whose oversized Fall 2010 fish belt was worn by Anna Dello Russo straight off the runway; Balenciaga and Christian Lacroix alum Bouchra Jarrar; and Calla Haynes, who worked with Olivier Theyskens for five years at Rochas and Nina Ricci.

The 2010 winner will be announced at the end of next month.
