shake it like a polaroid picture
>> Potential fashion crisis in the making: Polaroid will cease to produce its instant photo film by the beginning of next year.
Casting directors who take endless Polaroids of models to shop around to their clients, photographers looking to test the lighting, stylists who Polaroid every complete look during runway show fittings . . . everyone in the fashion industry who kept Polaroid alive for this long needs to pray that someone will take over the technology and keep producing it. That, or stock up now.
What will happen to Jeremy Kost?

That somebody will take on the production will just depends of what Polaroid wants for it, and i honnestly dont think it worth much caus clearly the sale numbers must be ridiculously low.
Polaroid has already stoped a few yearsago the production of films which was used in the fashion photography almost only (the polapan range...) and well...nobody bought the production from them.
In most digital application, pola is not needed anymore to test light, so it is not for the model agencies alone that the polaroid was going to survive...

Wow. Film production is going to take a big hit. Polaroids are needed for continuity. What are we supposed to do? Quickly sketch the set between set-ups?

RIP Polaroid
For all you photography aficiandos out there, I recently received a Holga LOMO, and, though it does not produce instant film, it does produce photos with a grainy, vintage-like quality.

Kinda saw that coming...working in film production I have seen the transition from Polaroid to digital cameras for continuity however Fuji still makes instant cameras, in addition to my Polaroid and digital camera I have the Fuji Instax 200 http://www.fujifilm.com/products/instant_photo/index.html

But the issue here is whether or not the fashion industry will be able to adapt to the change. Yes they might be able to still use the fuji alternatives, buy the last bit of polaroid stock, or adapt to a brand new way of snapping up shots. digital printing?

It is such a shame. Not only for the fashion industry, but for the spontaneous pictures of friends and family that don't make everyone look like an ugly fool

I don't honestly know, as a photographer, how I'm going to survive without polaroid. I'm planning on buying another fridge to store as much stock as I can...

Oh, Andy Warhol must be turning in his grave! It's sad, I love polaroid. It's the thing I miss about using digital on fashion shoots - having the Polaroids to take home :(
