Elizabeth Olsen

Exclusive: Elizabeth Olsen Covers Bullett's Fall 2012 Issue

"There's something about being in college and having theories about life and the world," Elizabeth Olsen says in the romance-themed Fall 2012 issue of Bullett magazine.
Bullett Fall 2012 Issue Covers Starring Elizabeth Olsen

"There's something about being in college and having theories about life and the world," Elizabeth Olsen says in the romance-themed Fall 2012 issue of Bullett magazine. "It's a really fun phase to go through until, you know, everything gets sh*t on."

That observation from Olsen, who appears on one of the magazine's three covers, is joined by stories on fellow cover stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Pharrell Williams. Actors Jim Sturgess and Tracy Morgan also have features, and in another interview, singer Chan Marshall of Cat Power discusses everything from depression to the occupational hazards of live concerts.

"Something is usually distracting me when I'm doing my job, especially since my job is to be faithful and dedicated to the song," Marshall says. "It's hard to present the song in its natural state if someone is taking a picture with a flash, like, seven times, in the front row, or if there are two chicks who are like [Valley Girl voice], 'Oh my god, I know! So last weekend, that was so much fun!' I'm like, Can you go to the bar where everyone else is talking?"

The Fall 2012 issue of Bullett will be on newsstands Sept. 5. For now, an exclusive preview of the issue here in the gallery.

T Magazine

Sally Singer to Leave T Magazine

Sally Singer will leave her job as editor of T Magazine, the New York Times's fashion magazine, at the end of the week.

Sally Singer will leave her job as editor of T Magazine, the New York Times's fashion magazine, at the end of the week. No reason has been given for her departure, and the Times hasn't yet named a successor.

"Sally's contributions are clear to anyone who's read the magazine during her tenure," wrote the Times's executive editor Jill Abramson in a staff memo announcing Singer's departure. "Gorgeous visuals, interesting stories and enterprising features — both in print and online — have been hallmarks of her stewardship. We wish her every success."

While Singer may have expanded T's coverage to include interesting non-fashion stories, she didn't succeed in making it more profitable. T had, in the Times's former executive editor Bill Keller's estimation, been created to "generate the revenues that help subsidize the stuff that drew most of us into the business." But after a year on the job, T's advertising pages had only increased by .7 percent. The Spring 2012 fashion issue, for example, saw an eight percent decline in ads, which wasn't good news in a month where many other magazines, including Vogue, Glamour, W, and Harper's Bazaar posted ad page gains between two and 31 percent.

Singer came to T in June 2010, leaving her position as fashion news and features editor at Vogue. She replaced Stefano Tonchi, who had moved on to be editor in chief of W Magazine. At the time, Singer said, "I imagine at some point [T Magazine] will naturally evolve into something that reflects more my taste and concerns than those of my predecessor. But hopefully that will be an organic process and not an imposition."

John Galliano Reportedly Suing Dior

John Galliano is believed to have sued Dior for €15 million (about $18.8 million at current exchange) in a French labor court.

John Galliano is believed to have sued Dior for €15 million (about $18.8 million at current exchange) in a French labor court.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Galliano has filed an employee/employer dispute with the Paris Conseil des prud'hommes, an industrial tribunal that hears cases regarding employment contracts. While details of Galliano's complaint to the court are not known, his hearing is scheduled for Feb. 4, 2013.

Dior dismissed Galliano last March after he was accused of making anti-Semitic remarks in a Paris bar. Last week, the newly installed French President Francois Hollande stripped Galliano of his membership in the country's Legion of Honor.

September Issue 2012 Covers

It's the most wonderful time of the year: covers for the September 2012 issues are starting to trickle in, and the images on them are as captivating as expected.

As reported previously, Victoria Beckham is featured on the cover of Glamour, on which she wears little other than a tiara and the frothy bubbles from a bath. Katy Perry, clad in a pink Bottega Veneta dress and purple hair, is on the cover of Elle. Karlie Kloss has two September covers to her name this year: she's on the front of both Vogue UK (in printed pieces from Jonathan Saunders) and Vogue Japan (in one of the last garments Stefano Pilati designed for Yves Saint Laurent). Vanity Fair used a paparazzi photo of Kate Middleton, who it recently named to its International Best Dressed List, on its September style issue.

A look at those exciting covers, plus others that have debuted so far, here in the gallery.

MAC has finally released images of the products included in its highly anticipated collaboration with Carine Roitfeld.

Roitfeld's beauty signature is a dramatic, smoky eye, and the MAC collection mirrors that look with dark eye shadow, bold brow colors, and nude lipstick. The editor didn't just decide on the color palette — she advised MAC on everything from the package design — which includes the same handwritten initials that appear on her new magazine CR Fashion Book — to product names.

Roitfeld also stars in the collection's ad campaign, shot by Mario Sorrenti. A look at the collection here in the gallery.

Anna Dello Russo For H&M Accessories

Remember during Couture week when Anna Dello Russo was spotted frolicking around Place Vendome in a pink ball gown and toting a set of turquoise luggage? Turns out that luggage — and in fact all the accessories she was wearing, right down to the bejeweled gator sunglasses perched atop her head — belong to her upcoming H&M collaboration. (The dress was Oscar de la Renta; the frolicking, part of a photo shoot for the September issue of Vogue Russia.)

Now that the issue of Vogue Russia has finally hit newsstands, those images — plus others — have made their way onto the web. What they reveal is not only a much more complete look at the collection, but also a much more intriguing one. Diamante "A" earrings, oversized chain necklaces emblazoned with Dello Russo's name, hinged alligator collars, giant deer charms, bejeweled minaudieries, gold ankle booties — all the pieces are big, glitzy, and very ADR.

Love All: Designers Customize Tennis Balls For Vogue

In honor of the US Open Tennis Championships, which started in New York on Monday, Vogue asked designers including Pamela Love, Peter Som, and Eddie Borgo to design tennis balls with elements of their signature motifs.
Vogue Designer Tennis Balls For US Open 2012

In honor of the US Open Tennis Championships, which started in New York on Monday, Vogue asked designers including Pamela Love, Peter Som, and Eddie Borgo to design tennis balls with elements of their signature motifs. The one-of-a-kind balls are decorated with everything from cloth flowers to rhinestones, lace, leather, and aggressive metal studs. Love shot an arrow through her design ("I have four arrow tattoos, so I thought, why not?" she says), while Som's sparkly entry takes inspiration from a diamond tennis bracelet. Dana Lorenz's Fenton ball, with brass chains and pearls, takes inspiration from Christian Lacroix and the glamorous supermodels of the '90s. A selection of our favorites from the project here in the gallery.

Vionnet Designers Have "Interrupted" Their Time at the Brand

Vionnet confirmed in a statement Tuesday that twin sister designers "Barbara and Lucia Croce have, currently, interrupted their collaboration with Vionnet SpA."

Vionnet confirmed in a statement Tuesday that twin sister designers "Barbara and Lucia Croce have, currently, interrupted their collaboration with Vionnet SpA."

The statement went on to say that work on the label's Spring 2013 collection "is being carried out by the in-house design team and we will be proud to present it on the 28 Sept. in Paris, where we will also be celebrating 100th anniversary of the brand on the 30 of Sept. with a special event and presentation of the Demi Couture collection." Whether the Croce sisters will return is not known.

The statement confirms reports from Monday suggesting the sisters would leave the storied brand after having disagreements with their new boss, Goga Ashkenazi.

Ashkenazi's London-based private equity firm Go To Enterprise bought a controlling stake in the house just three months ago. At the time, the purchase was billed as a move to accelerate "the strategic development of the fashion house," but now it seems to be writing another chapter in Vionnet's beleaguered modern development. Since French businessman Arnaud de Lummen revived it in 2006, the house has seen five creative administrations: Sophia Kokosalaki — who will leave her current post at Diesel Black Gold next month — designed the brand's first collection in 67 years for Spring 2007. She left in 2008 and was replaced by Prada alum Marc Audibet. When he left in February 2008, the house appointed an unnamed team of designers to create the line. (De Lummen told WWD, "Vionnet doesn't need to be associated with a designer's name, it's an institution.")

When former Valentino chairman Matteo Marzotto acquired the brand in February 2009, he appointed designer Rodolfo Paglialunga as creative director. Paglialunga left Vionnet in October 2011 and was replaced by the Croce sisters.
