The Best of Miami Swim Week 2013

When it comes to fun, Miami Swim Week may just have the market cornered.
Best Swimsuits From Miami Swim Week Resort 2013

When it comes to fun, Miami Swim Week may just have the market cornered. After all, at what other Fashion Week are collections shown poolside?

Despite its breezy nature, the week always brings a ton of serious trends — and plenty of highly covetable looks. On tap this season — and just begging to be worn right now — were retro-silhouetted bandeau one-pieces, caftans in graphic tribal prints, and mix-and-match bikinis aplenty. Also appearing in heavy rotation were superhigh-waisted bikini bottoms, optical black-and-white colorblocking, tonal python prints, and more latticework cutout suits than we care to count. Sadly, none of these suits will be available until Resort 2013; until then, take a peek at the week's standout pieces in the slideshow.

  • Louis Vuitton is distancing itself from a venture called Machine Guns Vegas, which just launched a gun grip in the fashion house's multicolored monogram canvas. Selita Ebanks Accused of Assault

Model Liza Irizarry says she plans to sue Selita Ebanks for assault and battery, claiming the Victoria's Secret Angel punched her in the face and broke her nose outside a Miami nightclub last year.

Model Liza Irizarry says she plans to sue Selita Ebanks for assault and battery, claiming the Victoria's Secret Angel punched her in the face and broke her nose outside a Miami nightclub last year.

Irizarry, who works for Telemundo, says she kissed Ebanks's boyfriend on the cheek in greeting when she saw him in front of the Dream club in Miami. She alleges that a drunken Ebanks did not react well to her salutation. "When she saw me, she said, 'Don't be kissing my man," Irizarry said in an interview. "That's when she hit me on the nose. I went to swing back; that's when all her friends jumped in. I felt hair-pulling and fists coming at me."

Irizarry says the nose injury required surgery days later. Her suit will seek damages covering pain, suffering, and medical costs.

Ebanks's lawyer, Paul Rothenberg, said the suit "is nine months old and completely without merit" and called Irizarry's claims "baseless."

Love Taps Ladies of Downton For Latest Covers

The covers of Love's eighth issue will feature actors from the British drama Downton Abbey — and editor Katie Grand says Marc Jacobs is to thank for their inclusion in the issue.
Downton Abbey Actors Star on Love Magazine Issue 8 Covers

The covers of Love's eighth issue will feature actors from the British drama Downton Abbey — and editor Katie Grand says Marc Jacobs is to thank for their inclusion in the issue.

"I really wasn't interested in Downton Abbey at all," Grand said in an interview. "But around September last year Marc Jacobs kept saying I'd love it and that I had to watch it. So I tried watching the Christmas special and couldn't get into it. But then I was ill in January and started at the beginning and became addicted. I've now watched it three times over!"

Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot the covers, for which Grand styled Jessica Brown Findlay (who plays Lady Sybil Crawley), Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary), and Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith) in ornate wigs and dramatic, pale makeup. Inside the magazine, the actresses wear clothing from Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood. Another image featuring actor Rob James-Collier (Thomas, the footman) has also been released.

Love issue eight, themed "A Costume Drama," will be available on the newsstand on July 30. A look at the covers here in the gallery.

House of Style Is Coming Back to MTV

MTV announced Tuesday that it will resurrect its cult favorite fashion program House of Style, which hasn't aired in almost a decade.

MTV announced Tuesday that it will resurrect its cult favorite fashion program House of Style, which hasn't aired in almost a decade.

Rather than broadcasting as a full half-hour TV show as it did from 1989 to 2002, new House of Style programming will be integrated across MTV's multiple media platforms. Highlights from the show's past — including a video of Naomi Campbell's acne removal methods, and another of Sofia Coppola and Spike Jonze producing a guerilla fashion show — have been organized into a video archive hosted by the fashion news blog MTV Style. The blog also plans to publish three essays inspired by the show over the next few weeks.

On August 7, MTV will release a short documentary called House of Style: Music, Models and MTV. The film includes interviews with Cindy Crawford and Rebecca Romijn — both past hosts of the show — as well as Todd Oldham, Anna Sui, Coco Rocha, and vocalist Azealia Banks.

"The idea of the new House of Style is that it runs on all of our platforms," said MTV executive Dave Sirulnick in an interview. "You'll see it on television, on the web, on our aps. Not a lot of people are looking to consume 20-minute television shows on their phones. At least not yet."

Nevertheless, Sirulnick is auditioning hosts for the show. MTV will announce who's got the job on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6.

Watch: Alexander McQueen's Psychedelic Fall 2012 Campaign Video

If David Sims's print ads for Alexander McQueen's Fall 2012 collection weren't colorful enough, his psychedelic campaign video certainly is.

If David Sims's print ads for Alexander McQueen's Fall 2012 collection weren't colorful enough, his psychedelic campaign video certainly is. The two-minute clip primarily features a repeated loop of model Suvi Koponen removing the collection's metallic visors from her face, while neon-colored clouds of light swaddle her figure. Incidentally, those visors — which are billed as representing the "beautiful future" the Fall collection evokes — will retail for $475 when they reach Alexander McQueen stores and its website this Fall. A look at the video below.

Karl Lagerfeld's Olympic Pop-Up Shop at Selfridges

Karl Lagerfeld's Olympics-themed collection for his eponymous label will make its debut at Selfridges in London on Tuesday — and the department store has readied a pop-up shop filled with his designs.

The Team Karl collection, housed on Selfridges's third floor, includes sporty biker jackets, skinny jeans, and three metallic collars in gold, silver, and bronze. A white t-shirt bears a screen-printed medal featuring Lagerfeld's likeness in profile. Prices range from about £95 to £325, or about $148 to $500. Today also marks the Selfridges unveiling of Lagerfeld's new luxury menswear line, Karl Lagerfeld Paris Man.

Lagerfeld will host a party celebrating the launch of both collections at the store this evening. Selfridges has decorated the pop-up with Lagerfeld's insignia (the profile of his face dominates one section of the shop as a white neon light fixture), and its windows feature mannequins in athletic poses wearing Team Karl clothes. Get a glimpse at the space the designer will celebrate, here in the gallery.
