At iconic downtown restaurant The Odeon, guests of the event — including Liv Tyler and Harley Viera-Newton — dined on a classic French menu of steak frites, roast chicken, and profiteroles, while industry vets Waris Ahluwalia, Giovanna Battaglia, Amanda Brooks, and Alexa Chung mingled with screen stars Naomi Watts and Camilla Belle.

Asos Accessories Fall 2012 Pictures

>> The devil's in the details. For Fall, Asos is offering an array of accessories that point directly to the season's defining runway trends; a colorblocked fur scarf, for example, plays nice with an oxblood Chelsea boot punctuated by an orange elastic gusset. Other shoes venture into more luxurious territory — the decadence of velvet sandals and brocade booties is only surpassed by shoes in faux snakeskin.

But it's not all dark glamour — Asos has a definite sense of playfulness and whimsy that's seen plainly in its graphic-printed handbags and necklaces dusted with lots of sparkly crystals. Both of those themes combine in a brooch that depicts a miniscule turtle ascending a purple flower. What could be more fun than that?

Coco Rocha

Coco Rocha Could Sue Elle Brazil For Not Honoring Her No-Nudity Policy

>> Coco Rocha took to her blog to express unhappiness with how naked she looks on Elle Brazil's May cover — but if she wanted, she could take her fight all the way to court.

>> Coco Rocha took to her blog to express unhappiness with how naked she looks on Elle Brazil's May cover — but if she wanted, she could take her fight all the way to court.

Rocha wrote on Tuesday afternoon that even though the cover makes her look as though she's wearing nothing under a sparkly, sheer dress, she was actually wearing a bodysuit when the photo was taken. Rocha claimed her undergarment was "photoshopped out to give the impression of me showing much more skin than I was, or am comfortable with. This was specifically against my expressed verbal and written direction to the entire team that they not do so. I’m extremely disappointed that my wishes and contract was ignored."

But more than being disappointed, Rocha could also be litigious. Susan Scafidi, the founder of Fordham University's Fashion Law Institute, told Fashionologie that Rocha could bring legal action against the magazine. Scafidi knows Rocha through her position on the board of directors of the Model Alliance, an organization that finds ways to improve working conditions for models; Rocha herself is a member of its advisory board.

"If her policy against no nudity or partial nudity was part of her written contract, then she can sue for breach of contract and potentially collect monetary damages," Scafidi wrote in an email. "It's possible that she could ask a court to stop distribution of the magazine, but that would probably be a long shot."

Scafidi went on to write that Rocha could still sue even if she only verbally expressed her desire not to appear naked. If that's the case, Rocha "might have an action for breach of privacy, emotional harm or — since she has a general no-nudity policy — damage to her professional reputation."

It's rare for models to speak up when their work depicts them in a manner that makes them uncomfortable — perhaps because of fear that they'll lose future opportunities. But Scafidi says Rocha is "a giant among models," so calling Elle Brazil to task won't hurt her.

"She won't be dropped by her agency or shunned by potential employers for writing about the incident or hiring a lawyer," Scafidi wrote. "But the fact that a major magazine would ignore even Coco's efforts to have some control over her own image gives a sense of how little authority models really have."

Scafidi was quick to point out that lesser-known models would still have the law on their side, but the same wouldn't necessarily be said of the industry at large.

"The sad reality is that if an unknown girl objected to being undressed via Photoshop and spoke out publicly against the client, she might as well be skinned alive, professionally speaking," she wrote.

Piamita Spring 2012

>> Karla Martinez's and Cecilia de Sola's debut collection for Piamita was filled with loungewear so polished, it begged to be worn everywhere — from inside the house to out on the town. Now, for Spring 2012, the pajama-inspired pieces are back, and this time around, they're even chicer than before. "We tailored them to fit a sleeker approach that epitomizes refined ease," the duo explained. That translates to tap pants with contrast piping, swinging a-line tanks, and slouchy harem pants — all of which come in vividly hued silk, vibrant prints, or chiffon. Available at Barneys, Intermix, Shopbop, and Net-a-porter, they're just the thing to help you slip softly right into Spring.

Calvin Klein's Boyfriend Nick Gruber Arrested For Cocaine Possession

>> Nick Gruber, the 22-year-old boyfriend of Calvin Klein, was arrested early this morning on three criminal charges — including possession of cocaine.

Police officers were called to Gruber's New York apartment when a friend reported that the former model had punched an unnamed 20-year-old man in the face. When the NYPD got there, the man Gruber hit was bleeding. When the cops attempted to arrest him, Gruber tried to get away by "flailing his arms in the air."

The police eventually got him under control but noticed that he was "suspiciously reaching to the front of his pants." The resulting strip search turned up an unspecified amount of cocaine.

By the time Gruber was handcuffed, he'd racked up three charges: possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and misdemeanor assault. Whether he's been in contact with Klein today is unknown.

Klein, who is 69, and Gruber started appearing in public together in the Summer of 2010. Klein has been reticent to comment on their relationship but said last October that he simply "fell in love with a wonderful young man."

Tyson Beckford on How Linda Evangelista Helped Models Get Rich

>>Tyson Beckford says Linda Evangelista's famous pronouncement about '90s-era supermodels not waking up "for less than $10,00 a day" helped him — and other models of his time — make "silly" amounts of money.

>>Tyson Beckford says Linda Evangelista's famous pronouncement about '90s-era supermodels not waking up "for less than $10,00 a day" helped him — and other models of his time — make "silly" amounts of money.

Beckford explained in a recent interview that some of his paychecks were so large, they were almost comical.

"I once walked in a fashion show — literally, just walked — for no more than a minute or two and they paid me a silly amount of money . . . $40,000," Beckford said. "I was like, 'Really? You don't have to give me that!' You know when Linda said that it set the bar for every other model — everyone just upped their day rates. It was hilarious. All the models — women and men — were like, 'Remind me to send Linda flowers!'"

Beckford also said that paychecks weren't the only things in the '90s modeling industry that were over the top.

"The fashion industry was so different back then. I guess it was all so new and so extravagant," he said. "The budgets were enormous; it was certainly a lot more fun. The parties were out of control and because no one had a camera phone and there was no Facebook or Twitter, you could do whatever you wanted with whoever you wanted."

  • Versace will show its Fall 2012 couture show at the Ritz Hotel in Paris on July 1, a month before the hotel is scheduled to close for a two-year renovation. The Ritz has a special place in Versace's history — it's where Gianni Versace presented his last collection for the house before he was killed in 1997. "The closing of the Ritz Paris for two years represents the end of an era but also the beginning of a new one," said Donatella Versace. "So to be able to show Atelier Versace there one last time will be a memorable milestone." [Vogue UK]

  • Roberto Cavalli took to Twitter to air more grievances against Anna Wintour, writing, "I confide you a secret... Anna Wintur das nt come to see my show in Milano ....... • Teri Agins, author of The End of Fashion, is writing a new book billed as a "behind-the-scenes exposé" that will "focus on the rise of fast fashion and celebrity designers in the multibillion fashion industry." • A group of protesters dressed in classically tailored suits assembled outside of the new Abercrombie & Fitch store on London's Saville Row, waving signs that say "Tweed Not Greed" and "Give Three-Piece a Chance." Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez Reveal Date For Met Gala

>> Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have decided which high-profile woman they're taking to this year's Costume Institute Gala.

McCollough and Hernandez will be taking Australian ingenue Isabel Lucas, who attended last year's gala as a guest of Louis Vuitton. Lucas's star shines bright in the land Down Under, and it's been getting brighter in the United States since she starred in 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Since then she's also been tapped for Steven Spielberg's miniseries The Pacific and played the role of Athena in last year's Immortals.

The only other designer whose date has been revealed is Joseph Altuzarra, who will be dressing and escorting singer Lana Del Rey. She recently appeared on the covers of British Vogue and French Glamour. This will be her first time at a Met Gala.

Last year, Altuzarra walked the red carpet with Arizona Muse, while Lazaro and Hernandez took Kristen Stewart.

Sonia Rykiel Reveals Struggle With Parkinson's Disease

>> In her new book, designer Sonia Rykiel confesses that she's been hiding her battle with Parkinson's disease from the world for the past 15 years.

Rykiel, 81, writes in N'oubliez pas que je joue (Don't Forget It's a Game) that she decided to open up about her disease because she can no longer hide the symptoms, which include trembling. She also notes that her colleagues didn't allow her to be photographed with the cane she's been using for several years.

"I don't want to show my pain," Rykiel writes. "I resisted, I hesitated, I tried to be invisible, to pretend that nothing was wrong. It's impossible, it's not like me."

In the book, cowritten with French journalist Judith Perrignon, Rykiel refers to the disease in code as "P de P" — "Putain de Parkinson," or "bitch of Parkinson's" in English.

Rykiel started designing her own clothing in 1962 because she couldn't find maternity sweaters soft enough for her liking. In 1967, one of her sweaters landed on the cover of Elle and Rykiel was dubbed Queen of Knits. Rykiel's daughter Nathalie took over as creative director of her mother's brand in 1995. Despite her disease and her decreased involvement with the brand, Rykiel was well enough to attend the Fall 2012 show last month.

V Mag American Idols Spread Stars Karlie Kloss, Arizona Muse

>> In its upcoming Americana-themed issue, V Magazine has dedicated an entire editorial to homegrown beauties like Karlie Kloss, Christie Brinkley, and Arizona Muse.

Called "American Idols," the collection of photos features some of the USA's biggest supermodels wearing pre-Fall clothing by some of its greatest designers. Brinkley dons a jacket and pants from Ralph Lauren while Dree Hemingway wears an Alexander Wang bodysuit on the opposite page. Carol Alt smolders in Michael Kors, and Elaine Irwin stands next to her in Donna Karan. But perhaps it's not how the models look as much as what they say about America that makes the spread so special.

"I've done it all," Brinkley says. "Worked at 31 Flavors, walked runways, been a rodeo queen, Broadway. Only in America!"

The Americana issue of V debuts on May 10. For now, take a peek at the spread in the gallery.
