Narciso Rodriguez Pre-Fall 2013

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Narciso Rodriguez's Spring 2013 collection was one of the most critically acclaimed of his career, so it's only natural that he would revisit its themes and successes for Pre-Fall.

This offering used the same triangle motif found in Rodriguez's last outing, but this time it appeared as a sort of downward-facing tuxedo stripe on cropped trousers or as a chevron-shaped seam on a few dresses. There was sparkle, too, thanks to beads judiciously applied to a blood-red tunic and a vermillion cocktail dress. Speaking of colors, some of the Spring palette bled through here. Much of Pre-Fall stuck to black and white, but there was rust and orange dotted here and there, and even pale pink on an oversize clutch.

What's new, though, was Rodriguez's expanding use of knits and leather. The colorblocked sweaters in this collection are sure to be crowd-pleasers when the Pre-Fall deliveries make it to stores, and so will a deep-red sheath in calfskin.

Update: Miranda Kerr Is the Face of Mango

Move over Kate, Mango's got a new leading lady.

Move over Kate, Mango's got a new leading lady. After two seasons with Moss as its face, the Spanish retailer has named Victoria's Secret Angel Miranda Kerr as the star of its upcoming Spring 2013 campaign. The campaign, which includes the whole shebang — television, billboards, online media, and print — was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in New York and has finally been unveiled for your viewing pleasure.

Kerr joins quite a crew: in addition to Moss, Milla Jovovich, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Karolina Kurkova, Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington, and Isabeli Fontana have all posed for the brand.

Peep Kerr's Mango campaign images — plus get a look behind the scenes at the shoot — right here.

Band of Outsiders Pre-Fall 2013

There's a distinctly Southwestern flair in Scott Sternberg's Pre-Fall 2013 collection for Band of Outsiders.

There's a distinctly Southwestern flair in Scott Sternberg's Pre-Fall 2013 collection for Band of Outsiders. It makes sense: the designer credited a trip to The Lightning Field, artist Walter De Maria's installation of some 400 lightning rods in the desert of western New Mexico, as what inspired the offering.

The feeling shines through in a number of the collection's dresses and shirts, which feature prints that call to mind Aztec motifs and Navajo blankets. Sternberg even worked a new geometry into one of his bandage skirts, coloring the layers so that they looked like steps.

From there the collection touched two other points of interest for Sternberg: suits paired with shirts were layered over sweaters with a BOY monogram in a nod to his preppy underpinnings, while a series of all-black looks (two of which featured bandage tops) veered off toward eveningwear.

    Reed Krakoff Pre-Fall 2013

The concept of men's uniforms — those worn in the boardroom, on the battlefield, and at the ballpark — inspired Reed Krakoff to create a masculine Pre-Fall 2013 offering freshened up with feminine details.

The concept of men's uniforms — those worn in the boardroom, on the battlefield, and at the ballpark — inspired Reed Krakoff to create a masculine Pre-Fall 2013 offering freshened up with feminine details.

"I wanted to figure out a way to take the things you would normally find in a man's wardrobe and make them fresh and feminine," he said. To that end, the designer turned men's suits into boxy blazers, coats, and slim trousers for day wear. Skirts often came with asymmetrical hems and were paired with luxurious tops like a v-neck sweater vest in mink and cashmere or oversize raglan sweaters. Texture was just as important here as shape: Krakoff cut a bomber jacket from shearling, for example, and printed the pony hair of a topcoat to look like snakeskin. A lace t-shirt dress would have been a little out of place here, but dipping it in black rubber made it stand up to the other strong pieces in this collection.

A day before he presented his Pre-Fall 2013 collection to editors and buyers, Jason Wu posted a photo of "Martha Hunt giving Jerry Hall realness" to Instagram. If Hunt was busy channeling that queen of '70s glamour and seduction during the lookbook shoot for this offering, it's because that's the feeling Wu was after.

Extending the unexpectedly sexy tone of his Spring 2013 collection, Wu created a luxuriously worked collection of dresses and gowns that captured the liberated spirit of the decade. The sheer chevron panels on his evening gowns, for example, alternated with wide swaths of sequins that kept the wearer covered up. Elsewhere the sex appeal toughed up, with dresses and slim trousers in leather (or a graphic black, white, and yellow eel skin pattern) and belts accented by chain-link hardware.

Victoria's Secret Angels Try and Fail (Adorably) to "Deck the Halls"

Things move along swimmingly for the first 30 seconds of this video, in which Victoria's Secret Angels sing the classic holiday carol "Deck the Halls" — but after that, it's a different story altogether.

Things move along swimmingly for the first 30 seconds of this video, in which Victoria's Secret Angels sing the classic holiday carol "Deck the Halls" — but after that, it's a different story altogether.

The video features Candice Swanepoel, Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Lindsay Ellingson, and Erin Heatherton decorating a Christmas tree, setting out presents, and trimming a room with bows and garlands — tasks apparently easier than remembering the words to the song. "Deck the halls of boughs of honey," Kroes sings, realizing the mistake before laughing and saying, "Let's deck it with honey!"

"We don't sing this Down Under," Kerr says of her inability to remember all the words. "We sing 'Santa Baby.'"

Whatever the case for their struggle, it's hard not to give the Angels an A for effort. See why in the video below.

Mawi and Bruno Magli Collaboration Pre-Fall 2013

UK bauble brand Mawi has teamed with Italian heritage house Bruno Magli on a Pre-Fall 2013 capsule brimming with sparkle and shine. The seven-piece collection includes a jewel-adorned clutch, several vibrantly hued baubles, and a selection of Magli's signature pumps in rich gem tones and leopard print.

While all are gorgeous, perhaps the most enticing part of the collaboration is that it strikes a perfect balance between sophistication (Bruno Magli) and youth (Mawi). "It was about infusing a good dose of lots of different things — the classic side, the chic side, the elegant side, and the edgy side," Bruno Magli creative director Max Kibardin explained. "Even though there's still a lot going on, it still has an overall minimal, clean look."

Priced from $300 to $1,875, look for pieces online at BrunoMagli.com this Spring. Until then, you can preview them all right here, now.

Hot Dogs and Hamburgers in Paradise: Cathy Horyn, Oscar de la Renta Resolve Fight

Cathy Horyn and Oscar de la Renta must have resolved the name-calling scuffle they had in September: the fashion critic was spotted front row at the designer's Pre-Fall 2013 show Monday night.

Cathy Horyn and Oscar de la Renta must have resolved the name-calling scuffle they had in September: the fashion critic was spotted front row at the designer's Pre-Fall 2013 show Monday night.

WWD reports that Horyn not only showed up at the show, but made a point of telling the brand's president, Alex Bolen, she was wearing one of the designer's dresses. We saw Bolen talking with Horyn before the show began; the two later walked toward backstage, where Horyn talked with the designer before the show.

"I told her we probably approach fashion in two different ways," de la Renta said. "I respect her way and I hope she respects my way. My vision of fashion is for my customers. I read every single article she writes on fashion. I never hold grudges."

In her review of de la Renta's Spring 2013 collection, Horyn called the designer a "hot dog." De la Renta responded with a full-page ad in WWD, asking "If you have the right to call me a hot dog why do I not have the right to call you a stale 3-day old hamburger?" Horyn later told us that she "used the term in a professional context, as someone showing off his tricks, like a surfer."
