  • Azealia Banks, who's been called on to perform for everyone from Chanel to H&M, has declared she'll be boycotting Dolce & Gabbana because of the earrings in its Spring 2013 collection, which some have called racially insensitive. Banks said whoever designed them "deserves a swift kick in the mouth." [The Cut]

  • Olivier Theyskens says the key to his success has been realizing when things need to change. "A designer's first collection may have a lot of success because it's all about prints, but the person must have the courage, if prints are not really what he or she wants to do their entire design life, to find a way to get rid of it, to discover how to develop other things," he said. Karl Lagerfeld "Obviously" Didn't Call the French President an "Idiot"

Karl Lagerfeld said he didn't call French President Francois Hollande an "idiot" in a recent interview with Marie Claire España, claiming that his quote was lost in translation.

Karl Lagerfeld said he didn't call French President Francois Hollande an "idiot" in a recent interview with Marie Claire España, claiming that his quote was lost in translation.

"Obviously I did not say that," Lagerfeld said on French television, responding to demands for an apology from French politician — and Hollande's former partner — Segolene Royal on Sunday. "So I don't have to apologize because I didn't say it."

Lagerfeld said in reality, he finds President Hollande "funny, spiritual and very, very intelligent," and said the idea that he would insult Hollande is "frankly absurd."

Be that as it may, a translation of Lagerfeld's interview with the Spanish magazine included a criticism of Hollande's new 75 percent income tax on French citizens who earn more than €1 million (around $1.3 million) a year.

"It's a disaster," the translation said. "He wants to punish (the rich) and of course they leave and no one invests."

This Week's Best Dressed

Who says New York gets to have all the chic?
Best Dressed at Bergdorf Goodman's 111th Anniversary Party

Who says New York gets to have all the chic? While a healthy share of this week's best looks were photographed in the city that never sleeps, there was plenty of competition from the stylish sets in Boston, London, and Rome.

Mario Testino's exhibit of photography at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts lured the likes of Erin Wasson, Gisele Bündchen, and Anna Wintour to Massachusetts. Meanwhile, Tim Walker's exhibit of photography drew Cara Delevingne and Erdem Moralioglu into Somerset House. Lauren Remington Platt and Byrdie Bell helped celebrate the opening of a new Max Mara store in Rome.

Stateside, some of the brightest stars in film and television — like Emma Watson and Sarah Jessica Parker, at left — dressed up for the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles. Tinseltown also played host to a party that Rachel Zoe hosted for Jockey.

In New York, Bergdorf Goodman celebrated 111 years of being one of the city's landmarks with a party attended by industry stars like Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, Lynn Yaeger, Linda Fargo, and Joseph Altuzarra. Michael Kors also hosted a party benefiting God's Love We Deliver. All the high-profile parties and charitable events in New York inspired some truly great looks — but so did an intimate dinner hosted by Roberto Cavalli.

Grace Coddington on Her First Job As a Model

Grace Coddington will release her autobiography, Grace: A Memoir, in November, and in it she recounts her introduction to modeling: posing in the buff for photographer Norman Parkinson.

Grace Coddington will release her autobiography, Grace: A Memoir, in November, and in it she recounts her introduction to modeling: posing in the buff for photographer Norman Parkinson.

In an excerpt of the book on Vogue.com, Coddington writes that a boyfriend introduced her to Parkinson, known by his friends as Parks. The first time they met, Parkinson said, "I have this little job at the weekend on my farm in Pishill. It's a nude photograph, if you don't mind."

"Well, I only registered the word photograph," Coddington writes. "I don't recollect why, but I guess it didn't occur to me that he meant I should take off all my clothes. Later on I did wonder whether it was the proper way to behave . . . To Parks, however, all I said at the time was 'OK,' and off we went to take pictures of me running through the woods naked. He demonstrated what I should do. 'This is what I want!' he shouted, mustache twitching as he leaped through the air from behind a tree, a tall, gentlemanly figure wearing one of his lucky little woven Ethiopian skullcaps. And that was that. I had a lovely time. It was my first modeling job. And afterward we all went home for tea."

Grace: A Memoir
will make its debut on Nov. 20.

Chanel Iman has reprised her role as the face of Amazon Fashion for Holiday 2012, and from the looks of things, the ads will be just as polished and ladylike as her Fall campaign for the site.

Photographer Matthew Rolston told us that's because of Iman's "elegant and beautiful" look. "I find an innocence and purity in her look, but also a sense of real womanly sophistication, which I think is unusual for such a young person," he said. "She looked stunning and really brought the clothes to life with her unique ability to move in front of the camera."

A look at the 21-year-old model doing just that in the video below, with behind-the-scenes photos of the campaign in the gallery.

Joanna Hillman Named Style Director of Harper's Bazaar

Street style favorite Joanna Hillman has been named style director of Harper's Bazaar.

Street style favorite Joanna Hillman has been named style director of Harper's Bazaar. She had been the magazine's senior fashion market editor for over three years.

The new job is one of a trio of promotions that follow the departure of Bazaar's features director Anamaria Wilson, who's now vice president of global corporate communications at Michael Kors, and its executive editor Kristina O'Neill, who left to become editor of WSJ. Magazine. Nicole Fritton has been named fashion market and accessories director, and Elisa Lipsky-Karasz is the magazine's new features editor.

Hillman got her first job in the industry as an assistant to stylist Lori Goldstein, who she worked with for two years. She then moved to Teen Vogue for four years, where she ultimately served as senior fashion market editor. Hillman joined the Bazaar team in September 2009.

All three promotions coincide with a new arrival at Bazaar: Earlier this month, the magazine announced that Carine Roitfeld would become its global fashion director.

Poppy Delevingne Reveals Her Next Move

Poppy Delevingne says she's not only ready to make a career change, but she's also leaving the UK to do it.
Poppy Delevingne's Modeling Pictures

Poppy Delevingne says she's not only ready to make a career change, but she's also leaving the UK to do it. "I'm off to Hollywood to try my luck as an actress," the model — and recently engaged sister of fellow Burberry face Cara — recently told the Daily Mail. "I've always wanted to be in films and I'm not sure I can stay a model forever."

And though Delevingne is definitely not the first model to make the switch to acting, she does already have a little experience under her belt. In 2000 she played the lead in the romantic short Perfect, and more recently in 2009, she had a small part in the Philip Seymour Hoffman period comedy Pirate Radio.

A look back at some of our favorite Delevingne modeling moments here, in the gallery.
