>> Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen sourced white '40s suiting and the pervasive mariniere stripes of The Row's Resort 2012 collection from the Luchino Visconti film Death in Venice. “We included a lot of cotton,” added Ashley, “because we wanted things to feel clean and fresh." The twins also unveiled a fine jewelry collaboration with Greek jeweler Ileana Makri, featuring an evil eye motif on diamond and sapphire bracelets, cuff links, rings, and anklets, the latter of which they have apparently been fighting over wearing.

>> Karen Elson and Jack White are making sure their marriage — just over six years' worth — goes out with a bang, by holding a divorce party in Nashville this evening. The couple wasn't often captured together — it wasn't until last year that White finally agreed to be photographed with Elson for the first time, for Vogue's June 2010 issue. “When this [opportunity at Vogue] came about,” Elson said at the time, “for whatever reason, he was sort of like, You know, this is going to be the only time we are ever, ever, ever going to do this, so it might as well be with the best people on the planet, it might as well be with Annie [Leibovitz] and Grace [Coddington], to get that one great image of the pair of us.” Those images, plus the rare few others of the couple together, in the slideshow; plus, The White Stripes' video for "Blue Orchid," on the set of which Elson and White met in 2005. It premiered just days before they were married.
>> “There’s a playfulness in mixing things up,” Olivier Theyskens said while introducing his Resort 2012 Theyskens' Theory collection, which continued the designer's study in slouch. Bias-cut dresses were covered in prints inspired by the work of painter James Ensor; blazers were given U-shaped cutaways and collar slits to give them the ease of a cardigan, Theyskens explained; and acid wash made an appearance on shorties and slouchy denim.
>> Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty sourced Hawaii and its tourists for the beach scenes and florals that graced their heavily-printed Suno Resort 2012 collection. “Resort is always less about artistic expression and more about having fun,” Beatty said. “After all, isn’t going on vacation supposed to be about having a good time?” Necklaces were fashioned from South American worry dolls and swimwear pieces, too, got some play.
>> Nicolas Ghesquiere is not cutting a slim silhouette this season — his Resort 2012 Balenciaga collection, as he put it, is “longer than usual, and with more volume.” That means full "umbrella skirts," voluptuous “double” shorts (inspired by the famous Balenciaga client Mona von Bismarck's gardening shorts), and nary a skinny pant in sight. Sun visors were the accessory of choice for many a look, and Ghesquiere played with a little trompe l'oeil, attaching a cardigan layered over a tank “in classic Jackie Kennedy style” or adding a tee underneath a dress.

>> Lara Stone, who landed a Calvin Klein exclusive a year ago and is still making appearances on behalf of the brand — just two days ago she wore Calvin Klein at a CK one-sponsored event in Berlin — doesn't seem to be an exclusive for the brand any more. She's appearing alongside Tom Ford in the campaign for his new beauty collection — which is Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott-lensed, instead of photographed by Ford or Terry Richardson as the designer's campaigns have been in the past.
