>> Like at Lanvin, glamorous daywear was the hot topic du jour for Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli at Valentino. Described as "techno couture," the designers created ruffled and embellished dresses — made with stretch wool for daytime comfort — along with spunkier leather and lace numbers for Pre-Fall 2011. "Our goal is to deliver wearable pieces which women can truly enjoy and can mix and match accordingly to their attitude,” said Chiuri. Piccioli added: “We want to transmit the feeling of an effortless elegance.”

>> Despite newspaper reports to the contrary — yesterday's Evening Standard cited a source saying that Victoria Beckham "will be working hard over the next month to get everything ready for London Fashion Week" — a British Fashion Council spokesperson confirmed today that Victoria Beckham "is not showing in London this season." In fact, she's listed on the Fall 2011 New York Fashion Week calendar on Sunday, Feb. 13, for her usual presentations by appointment. Meanwhile, we're hearing that another celebrity line, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's The Row, which was originally slated to show in New York last season before canceling and decamping to Paris, is likely going to continue to show in Europe for the upcoming season. >> Sasha Pivovorova had a long, storied run as a Prada face from Fall 2005 all the way through Spring 2008, when she was deposed by Linda Evangelista in the Fall 2008 Prada campaign. She may have been lost by Prada for a few seasons, but she wasn't forgotten: she's back, alongside Kasia Struss and the also-resuscitated Querelle Jansen, who was both a Prada and Miu Miu face in Spring 2004, for the Spring 2011 Miu Miu campaign, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. >> While Stella McCartney wasn't physically there to debut the collection — she did just recently have her fourth child, after all — the designer hosted her Pre-Fall 2011 party-cum-presentation at a four-story West Village loft last night. Models chatted, screens played A Streetcar Named Desire in the background, and Arizona Muse and Hanne Gaby Odiele were even spotted toasting marshmallows by the fireplace. The collection, which has already been predicted as a sure hit with the masses, featured silk shift dresses, tailored jackets, long boxy wool coats, and geometric-print sweater dresses.
>> Alber Elbaz, in presenting the Lanvin Pre-Fall 2011 collection yesterday, explained to the audience: “I see Internets every morning — I don’t have an email address and, you know, I don’t do Internet, but every morning my boyfriend, Alex, makes me coffee and we watch these images. And more and more I see these stylish women wearing all these evening dresses for day, and I thought, how beautiful. So it’s not just about the nice gray sweater and the nice, I don’t know, that nice straight skirt, but it’s becoming a little bit more elaborated during the day.” [The Cut]
It Appears at Least One Dress in Rachel Zoe's New Signature Collection Had Some Heavy Vintage Inspiration
>> When Rachel Zoe previewed her new signature collection this morning, among the pieces was a sleeveless white sequined dress with a graphic black pattern. While it's no secret that Zoe is a vintage hound, and many designers draw on vintage pieces for inspiration, this afternoon, Teen Vogue's Jane Keltner de Valle Tweeted a picture of Zoe styling a Teen Vogue intern in a strikingly similar dress, credited as a What Comes Around Goes Around vintage dress, in the magazine's October 2007 issue. >> A bundled ensemble doesn't have to look bulky, as exemplified by this street-snapped cutie from Amsterdam. Her chill-fighting outfit, comprised of an oversized wool camel coat, grey blazer, stripped top, black skinnies, and a super cozy scarf, is tempting us to leave our warm abodes for a stroll outside. Replicate the same cold weather look with items from Cheap Monday, Mango, ASOS, and Saint James.
Left to right: Mango Wool Camel Coat ($242), CC Skye Cross Wrap Around Ring ($41), Saint James Minquiers 10 Nautical Shirt ($75), Yossi Scarf ($90, originally ($180), Dolce Vita Mid Calf Napa Boot ($155, originally $210), Cheap Monday Jeans ($65), ASOS Boyfriend Blazer ($95)

See Crystal Renn for DSquared2, Leighton Meester for Missoni, Sarah Burton's First Alexander McQueen Ad, Plus More
>> Crystal Renn is following up her Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier campaigns last season with another campaign one-two punch for Spring 2011: Jimmy Choo and the newly-released DSquared2 set, in which she is joined by Anna Maria Jagodzinska, Sun Fei Fei, Hailey Clauson, and Monika Sawicka. Put that together with the new Missoni Spring 2011 ads, which feature the Missoni family along with Leighton Meester and social personalities like Tatiano Santo Domingo and Camilla Al Fayed, Freja Beha Erichsen's Valentino ads, a first look at Mariacarla Boscono for Loewe, and Sarah Burton's first Alexander McQueen campaign featuring Lindsey Wixson, and you've got the sum whole of the latest Spring 2011 ad campaigns.
>> Lauren Santo Domingo, who is expecting her first child with husband Andres Santo Domingo in April, opened up their Flatiron loft to be photographed by Vogue.com. Inside, there's a neon pink stump stool in the living room — "which I bought because my friend Amanda Brooks told me that every house has to have a 'wart,' or one really ugly piece," she explains; a room that is her "husband’s domain" — "I am not even allowed to touch anything in it"; and a guest bedroom she uses as a closet/office and guest bath that she's taken over as her own — "separate baths are a great luxury." The collection, done in a deal with Li & Fung, will be aimed at a contemporary level ($250 for a day dress going up to $700 for a full tuxedo look), and encompasses everything from shoes (suede boots and matte croc pumps with super-high heels and platforms, riding boots, flats) to handbags, suiting galore, and Zoe's current "obsession," outerwear. “I’d imagine everybody is expecting something from me that’s kind of a Seventies, uberboho-glam kind of thing, and, you know, very accessorized," Zoe noted of the collection. "And it’s not.”
Although no retailers have been confirmed yet, Li & Fung is targeting specialty stores and better department stores; Zoe ideally sees her collection sitting alongside Diane von Furstenberg, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang.
Zoe, never one to have a single project on her plate, had a Bravo camera crew filming for season four of The Rachel Zoe Project during the preview. “I’ve been asked to slow down,” she told WWD. “But to be totally honest, it’s kind of next to impossible when you’re planning your show and launching your collection, and in the middle of award season.” However, it sounds like the upcoming RZP season won't have any Fashion Week coverage — Zoe, at seven months pregnant, is sitting out the Fall 2011 shows.
Her client Anne Hathaway is hosting the Oscars this year, though, and Zoe says she fully expects, at eight months pregnant, to be supervising every outfit change. “It all depends on his arrival,” she adds, patting her stomach. Her husband, Rodger Berman, confirms: “It’s a little boy.”
Berman tells Harper's Bazaar in the magazine's February 2011 issue: "While I don't know how things are going to change when the baby comes, I know that they will change. But I think it's entirely possible to have a career in fashion and raise a child. Stella McCartney is on her fourth child and remains both a fashion icon and a great mom. All I know is, Rachel and I will figure it out. And if she wants to take the baby to Fashion Week, I say, why not? But we'll probably need an extra hotel room for all of the baby clothes."
