>> It's a summer of firsts for Garance Dore: the Paris-based streetstyle photographer quipped at a party last week, “I’m in the middle of a relocation. It’s my first entire summer in New York and I have to say, so far, I like it.” And now her first brand campaign debuts — for Moschino Fall 2010, shot in Milan. After the ad shoot finished, Dore made it her goal "to get invited over to [Moschino creative director Rosella Jardini's] house for espresso," where she shot the flat and a portrait of Jardini.

>> Karl Lagerfeld Debuts New Short Film, To Make Cameo on Gossip Girl? —Karl Lagerfeld has stepped behind the camera once again to capture Dree Hemingway, Abbey Lee Kershaw, and Baptiste Giabiconi in "Shopping Fever," a trailer-like short film for a movie that doesn't exist, featuring Chanel's Pre-Fall 2010 collection — video below. But will Lagerfeld be making a cameo on the small screen? Paparazzi captured him stepping out from the Ritz Paris together with Blake Lively — where Gossip Girl is currently shooting on location — and two of the show's stars, Lively and Leighton Meester, were front row at Chanel couture today. >> Riccardo Tisci transitioned from full-on runway to intimate presentation for his Fall 2010 couture collection, shown yesterday in a gilded Paris apartment — only ten looks' worth, as opposed to 23 looks last couture season. The impetus for the change? “I’ve been at Givenchy for five years now, and I’ve found my feet, and know what I’m doing much better. People know what Givenchy is now, and it’s selling. For couture, I think it’s better to show fewer things like this, which are more special, and can be seen properly . . . My style is about the little details. If a dress goes by with the kind of speed of my shows, you might go, ‘Oh, there’s a lace dress.’ You won’t see why it took 1,600 hours to make. And this way, I can meet people and talk to everyone. That’s good, too.” The presentation was reportedly more expensive than runway shows have been in the past for the brand.
The collection was inspired by Frida Kahlo and her three obsessions — religion, sensuality, and human anatomy — paired with degrade, lace, and fringe — three finishes Tisci considers his signatures. One catsuit featured a Swarovski crystal skeleton that took 1,600 hours to make, and another gold lace dress clocked in at six months of work.
Speaking of putting in hours, Tisci has apparently joined Rick Owens and Marc Jacobs in their workout obsessions — he's "a kick-boxing fanatic," according to Hilary Alexander: "Every morning, for an hour!"
>> Catherine McNeil, Ruby Rose Call Off Engagement —Australian MTV host Ruby Rose confirmed her engagement to Catherine McNeil back in April, but it seems the two are linked no more. Rose informed friends on Facebook over the weekend that the relationship is over, and it is understood that McNeil ended the liaison — rumor is now going around that McNeil may be back with Freja Beha Erichsen. Reps for both Rose and McNeil declined to discuss the split. [The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Telegraph]
