Midtown Manhattan isn't the first place one expects to encounter a drum circle, but last night 40 musicians gathered in Good Units at Hudson to make a racket in honor of Earth Day. The occasion was a Loomstate-sponsored bash that got a head start on commemorating the green holiday, which actually isn't until next week on the 22nd, but that hardly seemed to bother anyone. As an added bonus, Loomstate sponsored a party bus to take downtown kids afraid of crossing 14th St. unaccompanied all the way to the Hudson's 58th St. location.
There were more than a few eco-friendly fashion fans who ventured out to join the label's designers, Rogan Gregory and Scott Hahn, in enjoying the surprisingly awesome drumming and accompanying video installation. Rogan and Scott were in good company with other creatives like Pamela Love and the gang from threeASFOUR milling about and dancing to tunes from Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear, who took over as DJ once all the drumming stopped.
Fashion's Night Out—the Vogue-approved, worldwide shopping event—is officially scheduled for a second installment, kicking off New York Fashion Week on September 10. Last year, crowds lined up for in-store promotions and special guest appearances, with designers and Voguettes (even Anna!) sporting the evening's official tee.
