>> Marc Jacobs's Business Partner Robert Duffy to Wed —Next Tuesday, Marc Jacobs will be celebrating a wedding — but not his own. His longtime business partner Robert Duffy will wed Alex Cespedes, a real estate agent at KG Properties of New York, who he met last Summer on a blind date, at Duffy's home in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where gay marriage is legal. Jacobs will serve as Duffy's best man, and both grooms will wear Marc Jacobs suits in front of 86 guests, including numerous company employees. “We have been living our life together and sort of making steps towards this. But it really didn’t become like a thing that I would do [until recently],” Duffy said. “It just never entered my mind.” [WWD]

Revolving Door Continues at W with Confirmed Departure of Edward Leida, Possible Recruitment of Lynn Hirschberg
>> Following the departure of longtime W creative director Dennis Freedman comes the exit of Edward Leida, the magazine's design director and a 25-year veteran of Fairchild Publications. Leida will continue to operate his own firm, Edward Leida Design, through which he has worked on projects for Dolce & Gabbana, Celine, and the New York Times.
But it seems that as the magazine loses one editor, it's gaining another. WWD reports that Lynn Hirschberg has left her post as editor-at-large of the New York Times Sunday Magazine and T, presumably to join W in an entertainment director role. W has been without a full-time entertainment editor since last June, and Hirschberg's skills at celebrity wrangling and interviewing would mesh well with Tonchi's vision for the magazine, which includes landing bigger and more timely cover stars.
Sally Singer and Jenna Lyons Celebrate Fenton/Fallon J.Crew Collaboration
Jenna Lyons and Vogue's Sally Singer hosted the launch of Fenton/Fallon for J.Crew last night at the J.Crew shop in New York's SoHo neighborhood. Available online and in J.Crew stores now, the lineup of multi-strand necklaces and bracelets are complete with signature Fenton/Fall design elements—dripping in chains, studs, crystals.
>> Second Season of Loic Prigent's The Day Before Confirmed for September —Documentarian Loic Prigent captured Sonia Rykiel, Proenza Schouler, Fendi, and Jean Paul Gaultier in the 36 hours leading up to their respective shows for the premiere season of the Sundance Channel's series The Day Before. As reported, he's back for a second round, having followed Alexander Wang, Diane von Furstenberg, Jeremy Scott, Narciso Rodriguez, Peter Copping at Nina Ricci, and Donatella Versace at Versace during the Fall 2010 season. The new season premieres Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 10 PM. Prigent noted, “We explored the energy of New York with young labels like Alexander Wang, grandes dames like Diane von Furstenberg, energy and humor with Jeremy Scott, and couturelike precision with Narciso Rodriguez. In Paris, you see the sweetness and romanticism of Nina Ricci, and the extreme everything of Donatella Versace in Milan. All those houses are very different, which has made it such a crazy experience.” [Full Frontal Fashion]
Dana Lorenz Launches Fenton/Fallon for J.Crew Collection
>> J.Crew stocks a heritage brand here and there, but it's not often that an up-and-coming designer is asked to collaborate with the brand. Not so for Fenton/Fallon's Dana Lorenz, of whom J.Crew creative director Jenna Lyons is a major fan: “We met at a dinner party at Maria Cornejo’s house. We were sitting next to each other and talking, and she mentioned that she was a jewelry designer . . . I asked her what jewelry she designed and she said Fenton/Fallon. I was like, Jesus Christ — I had a stack of papers on my desk of pictures of her necklaces and I had been trying to find them. None of them had names on her website, so I just printed them all out and would call Bergdorf and say, ‘Do you have this?’ They were like, ‘I don’t know, lady, you have to come up.’"
Thus, the Fenton/Fallon for J.Crew collection, "a mash-up" of her Fenton and Fallon brands, according to Lorenz, which runs $95 to $295, was born — and is now in stores.
