Tommy Hilfiger is launching his fourth handbag collaboration to benefit Breast Health International. In 2007 Hilfiger worked with Carla Bruni on a limited-edition tote, which sold out within hours of its release. His latest muse, Milla Jovovich, was photographed by the project's 2009 ambassador, Helena Christensen, for the 2010 advertising campaign featuring a red tasseled tote. The bags will be available in Tommy Hilfiger's New York flagship beginning this April, and 50 percent of the proceeds will benefit Breast Health International initiatives.

One of the most ubiquitous trends of the season — tassels and fringe — had major moments at Bottega Veneta, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Derek Lam, and Gucci. Other details to note when considering purchases for this season: clear plastic and lucite (at Prada and Fendi, respectively), stingray skin (Givenchy), crochet and woven details (Carolina Herrera and Bottega Veneta), and contrasting colors (Versace and Proenza Schouler). >> When Stefano Tonchi was announced as W's new editor-in-chief yesterday, he said he only began talking with Conde Nast about the position last week. But WWD reports that Tonchi had been looking to leave T for more than a year, and was lobbying hard for a senior position at Conde Nast as well as looking at the possibility of a high-level position at Hearst or Time Inc.

Big changes for W under Tonchi are expected, and although he emphasized that the transition will be smooth — “Nothing is going to be traumatic. I don’t think there is any rush to make a revolution. It’s an evolution, it’s not a revolution” — those at the top of the W masthead — creative director Dennis Freedman, deputy editor Julie Belcove, and fashion director Alex White — are said to be in vulnerable positions.

White was reportedly interested in the editor gig »

Basic khaki staples like the classic trench and the shirt dress have been updated for 2010 with leather and suede paneling (Pringle of Scotland) and body-con cuts (Marc by Marc Jacobs). When it comes to footwear, Balmain's canvas ankle boots are a favorite, along with Alexander McQueen's cuffed version with grommets and Giuseppe Zanotti's army green, open-toe style.

When asked whether sexy photoshoots with young models should be more closely monitored by the industry, Jacobs replied: “I’ve worked with Terry and Terry has asked me to do some crazy things. I know that those pictures will exist if I do them. But I’m a big boy and I can say no.”

He said that he hadn't heard about the controversy, adding that Richardson is “not ill-spirited.” Then, Jacobs went further to say about the industry in general: “If a girl is underage, maybe the girl’s agent or chaperone should be present on the shoot. That’s the hard part. Who’s to blame or who’s to watch?”

Harper's Bazaar

>> No Contract for Peter Lindbergh at Vogue —At the end of last week, it was announced that after 18 years at Harper's Bazaar, Peter Lindbergh would be returning to work for Vogue at Grace Coddington and Anna Wintour's request.  Apparently, it was Lindbergh's decision not to renew his contract with Bazaar, but he doesn't have a contract at Vogue, and a Vogue spokesman couldn't say when his work might appear in the magazine.

Anna Wintour Blames Extreme Model Thinness for Lack of Supermodels in Last Decade

>> On Monday night, Anna Wintour joined Michael Kors and Natalia Vodianova in Boston for a panel on model health, where she called on designers to reverse the “tyranny of [sample] clothes that just barely fit a 13-year-old on the edge of puberty.”She went on to say that the preference for extreme thinness in the past decade has eroded models' clout, WWD reports: Most work only when they have the uberslim physique of the very young, stop getting jobs when they fill out and hence don’t last long enough to develop public personalities, like the Nineties supermodels did.

Most work only when they have the uberslim physique of the very young, stop getting jobs when they fill out and hence don’t last long enough to develop public personalities, like the Nineties supermodels did. As a result, more magazine covers and lucrative beauty contracts have gone to singers and actresses, [Wintour] observed.

On a separate note, Wintour also said Vogue uses Photoshop to erase small imperfections, but not to make girls thinner than they are.
