Runway Report: Altuzarra Spring 2010

For spring 2010 Joseph Altuzarra left his 80s inspired body-con dresses behind (as popular as they remain this season) for a looser, free-spirited patchwork hippie look – think basket weave suede details on pants and jackets, apron dresses, white eyelet blouses, and Native American style ponchos.Alexander Wang arrived directly from his show to attend his friend's sophomore outing and joined Altuzarra fans Rachel McAdams (again sitting with Voguettes, which indicates there might be a Vogue cover in her future), Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and mom Carine, Leighton Meester, Pamela Love and Becki Newton (blogging for ELLE.com).

Runway Report: Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2010

Like many other designers we've seen this season, Narciso Rodriguez softened up his collection for spring 2010.

Like many other designers we've seen this season, Narciso Rodriguez softened up his collection for spring 2010.

Jessica Alba caused a media frenzy as she took her seat in the front row—looking great in a black sequin mini dress, her hair blond and slicked back into a low knot. Other notable faces in attendance at the Tent in Bryant Park included Isabel and Ruben Toledo, Emmy Rossum and Courtney Love.

As the first two looks came out—dripping in gauzy layers of black and white—it was evident Rodriguez planned to leave fall's tough futurism behind him. The clothes remain sculptural (through complicated stitching techniques and arty cut-outs) but with a new freedom for the body to move.

Although the collection was full of standout pieces (a white bubble dress, a black mesh tank/skirt combo and cropped jackets to name a few) the last three looks—modern evening gowns, short in the front and long in the back—hit a high note as they floated delicately along the runway.

Runway Report: Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2010

For spring 2010 Marc Jacobs presented a bright, fun collection of the lower-priced Marc by Marc Jacobs line.

For spring 2010 Marc Jacobs presented a bright, fun collection of the lower-priced Marc by Marc Jacobs line.

Models donned huge bunny ear bows in their hair, not unlike those in Jacobs' fall 2009 show for Louis Vuitton and as worn by Madonna in the brand's ad campaign. Explained by hair maestro Guido Palau backstage, the look "is a Fifties up-do with an Eighties edge."

The same could be said for the collection itself—a lively cacophony of color and mixed prints (dots, spots, plaid, gingham and tribal). Looks were for the most part polished, hence the Fifties, with an oversized sweatshirt here and denim jacket there, obvious Eighties.

Marc's girls were pulled together, in the most charmingly mismatched way, wearing shades of blue and red neatly cinched in at the waist with striped belts. Accessories are always important in this show, and Jacobs didn't disappoint with metallic wrap sandals, colorful pop jewelry and a parade of shoulder bags.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs guy was, as ever, looking very cool—this season in rolled pants, blazers and printed shirts and wearing great velcro-strapped deck shoes in teal and clay.

See What Lauren Santo Domingo Is Supposedly Obsessed With at Christian Cota Spring 2010

>> Lauren Santo Domingo has been turning it out front row this week — from Phi leather pants to Balmain sandals — aside from that front-row smoke break at Alexander Wang which caused a stir according to The Daily, but she was also back to style Christian Cota's presentation for Spring 2010.  While waiting in line to view the presentation, we overheard one of Cota's publicists talking about how Santo Domingo was "obsessed" with the jewelry she paired with Cota's cocktail dresses; Style.com also just published a piece about how Cota's "show stylist" — Santo Domingo wasn't named — "happened upon" LITTER, a line of headpieces and body jewelry that is primarily made from secondhand jewelry, "on a trip to San Fran a few months back, so she did the natural thing and coaxed the designers back to New York."
