Italy-based e-commerce site, Luisaviaroma, recently put up a handful of Fall 2009 Balmain pieces, available for pre-order. Not surprisingly, their Balmain inventory is mostly comprised of strong shoulder jackets. Perhaps they've had the same experience as Net-a-Porter, who sold out of one of those $11,000 dollar jackets in one day. A Sign Of The Times: Christian Louboutin Does Jazz Shoes
The fashion world has been talking about wearing flats as of late--and it's already catching on. Net-a-Porter and Barneys both picked up a pair of jazz shoes by Christian Louboutin, master of the five inch platform, while Marc Jacobs, Jil Sander, Ralph Lauren, and Pour la Victoire are offering lace-up flats as well. Sure, it's not exactly a full-on "trend" just yet but we think Spring 2010 will change that.
Givenchy Resort 2010

Riccardo Tisci showed a resort collection which took cues from North Africa. What this translated to at Givenchy were beautifully draped, gauzy pieces offset by more statement making head-to-toe printed looks. Russian newcomer Ranya Mordanova modeled the collection, she also stars in Givenchy's Fall 2009 ad campaign.

Gap's Design Edition collection, a collaboration with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, landed online and in stores today. The participating designers, Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai of Vena Cava, Alexander Wang and Albertus Swanepoel, each designed four to five khaki items for the retailer. Everything in the collection--from Wang's Moto trench to Vena Cava's tribal print dress--retails for well under one hundred dollars.
