Irina Lazareanu, who has been in full-on hiatus mode, skipping both the Spring 2009 and Fall 2009 runways save for a couple of turns during couture in January, is back in Miles Aldridge's technicolored "Dreamy."  And Suvi Koponen, who skipped the Fall 2009 runways to travel the world, returns to major editorial ground showcasing what she does best — pose — in Richard Burbridge's "A Summer Blend."  Not to mention Sasha Pivovarova's return to Vogue Italia cover territory, Moroccan-style.

Donatella Versace Shyly Joins the Michelle Obama Fan Club

>> Michelle Obama's sartorial choices have caused a bit of a riff among designers, causing some to call others "dinosaurs," but over the weekend she was joined by favorites Narciso Rodriguez and Jason Wu — who apparently got carded by a bartender — at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, and earned herself a new designer fan.Donatella Versace, who attended as a guest of Vanity Fair, was excited to participate — she even blogged the experience for the Huffington Post, citing a pet peeve for Blackberrys.

Donatella Versace, who attended as a guest of Vanity Fair, was excited to participate — she even blogged the experience for the Huffington Post, citing a pet peeve for Blackberrys. "I follow politics. It's part of my life. I think if you're involved in the modern world — if you're a modern person — you need to know what's going on in the world.  My business is worldwide. I know German politics. I know French politics."

She even admitted to protesting during her university years. "I was very involved in politics and sit-ins. Students were fighting for things, and I think young people need to fight for their future."

But back to Michelle — particularly in France. "She looked fierce," Versace says. "They're a couple who knows how to dare. I'm sure she has people around her telling her it's too much. She looked great in Alaia."

Donatella only has one request: "I want to know her size. I want to send her clothes.  But I'm a bit shy."

Lyn Devon Fall 2009 Look Book

Young designer Lyn Devon, who launched her label in 2005, wanted customers to "dress on the bright side" this Fall. In her collection, vibrant purple, deep red and an optimistic poppy print appear alongside dark classics. The effect is dramatic and sophisticated, optimistic but not at all ditzy. Texture is also considered this season with houndstooth, ultra-thin leather and tech jersey coming together in different combinations. The overall effect is an ultra-clean, sophisticated take on modern sportswear which will hopefully get Devon into many more stores next season. Check out the complete Fall 2009 look book in the gallery below.

Carine Roitfeld on Knives, Nymphomania, and Having the Power

>> Carine Roitfeld speaks frequently through the images she creates for Vogue Paris, but the new, erotic-themed issue of Acne Paper provides us with a fly-on-the-wall spot at a candid conversation with the editor.

The woman who will "never wear miniskirts because they make me look older" talks pushing limits — "Never before in Conde Nast's history has there been a transvestite on the cover, and [Andre J.'s cover] sold so well. You think you are going to get into trouble but in the end people are more open than you think" — and dressing demure — "it's always subtle."

But even Carine aspires to be somebody else.

You know the idea of the Saint Laurent woman. What a dream she was: wearing trousers, hand in the pocket, no handbag, transparent shirt. I love that woman. It is exactly who I would have loved to be if I could choose. So I would have to go blonde because he loved the blondes, and I would have to have bigger breasts. But it's the idea of the woman I love, and I try to repeat this in my magazine.

"Jeans are for my assistants." »

Fall 2009 Trend Report: Seeing Red

This Fall 2009 red felt like an appropriate fashion statement and there were plenty of designers who wanted to make it. And it was. Counting those brands and designers who opted for burgundy outfits, it seemed like one third of the Fall 2009 collections contained at least one red look.
