>> In March, The New Yorker did a profile on Alber Elbaz that left him seeming unconfident and unhappy with himself. Stephanie Seymour sat down with the Lanvin designer for the May 2009 issue of Interview and came away with a glimpse of a different side of Alber — one who doesn't mess with sexy clothes, small talk, or overeager interns. There is one category, however, that Elbaz feels less than adequate in:
He knows his way around a dress, but can't work the remote.
I have no sense of direction, no technical skills. My boyfriend thinks that I stay with him just because he knows how to work the remote control at home. If it has buttons, I depend on him. Sometimes I think that I am kind of either f*cked-up or dyslexic. Like, my brain doesn’t get it! Everything that has to do with a machine is hard. But I live with it now. I don’t have a complex about machines — I just don’t know how to use them.

>> IN PRODUCTION —In past couple of years, Gap has teamed up with CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winners and finalists like Phillip Lim, Band of Outsiders, Threeasfour, Philip Crangi, Rodarte, Doo.Ri, and Thakoon to reinterpret their classic white shirt, but this year, Patrick Robinson says it's all about 2008 winner Alexander Wang: "We have Alexander Wang doing the next CFDA collaboration, like what we did with the white shirts last year, only this year it's with khaki. He did this incredible motorcycle jacket in khaki that's going to be under $100. It's coming out on June 16th, so get ready!" [Teen Vogue]
UPDATE: Apparently the collection also features another khaki jacket, plus some chinos. [Grazia Twitter]

Marc Jacobs Sets a Wedding Date, Reveals More Costume Institute Gala Guests
>> As Marc Jacobs gears up for sponsor duties on Monday's Costume Institute Gala, he's got another big event on his mind: his wedding. He got engaged to fiance Lorenzo Martone last month, and the two are already planning what is sure to be a big bash in Provincetown, Massachusetts, according to Martone — one of their favorite vacation spots. "Yes, [the wedding is happening] in the summer — in June, even before summer! And then [we'll have] a party in December in St. Barths."
Just last week, Lorenzo revealed that he was the one who proposed, and he bought their pink-gold triple band rings at Boucheron, Marc's favorite jeweler, in Paris during Fashion Week. “I was in Paris for Fashion Week for the Vuitton show, so I had a little planning beforehand to do that." He brought them back to New York, where he surprised Marc with them during dinner at the Mercer Hotel.
But it's not all about the wedding just yet; Jacobs fleshed out his Costume Insitute Gala guest list further — we've already heard co-host Kate Moss and Kerry Washington, and last night he added: "Madonna . . . Victoria Beckham . . . I'm trying to think, now I can't remember! Anne Hathaway . . . Winona [Ryder] . . . Rachel Feinstein, John Currin . . . and Rihanna!"

In The Showroom: Rachel Rachel Roy Fall 2009
This week we had the opportunity to check out designer Rachel Roy's bridge line for Macy's, Rachel Rachel Roy. Alongside our Network Partners from M.I.S.S. Crew and Trend Doll and the gals from Second City Style, Nitrolicious and WhereDidUGetThat.com, we got to meet Roy in person and talk with her about the collection. Poised to start delivering in August, the line includes clothing as well as footwear, handbags and accessories and calls up Roy's favorite pieces, such as easy men's cardigans and one-shoulder tops, as well as her favorite style mantras, such as using jewelry to toughen-up an outfit. We'll be bringing you more on Rachel Rachel Roy as the clothing hits shelves but, for now, check out our many snapshots of the collection along with a few look book images in the gallery below.
