We've just returned from an appointment we now anxiously look forward to every season... a pop-up showroom which hosts the most exciting emerging designers in London. This season the event took place in a beautiful penthouse suite at the very downtown SoHo Grand and we were once again lucky enough to see all kinds of hot-off-the-runway goodies and chat with the designers in person. Before we get into those exciting reports, we have mention to the organization that made this all happen: Centre For Fashion Enterprise. This amazing organization invests time, money, and resources in emerging designers and their businesses for two years at a time. Enterprise alumni include Erdem, Manish Arora, and Marios Schwab to name a few. We'll be bringing you our reports from the showroom throughout the week. Stay tuned!

Beginning last night in New Delhi, the International Herald Tribune held its eighth annual luxury business conference focusing on sustainability. Today Suzy Menkes reported on the conference and the topics addressed by the fashion industry's key players. Notable speakers included Nicolas Ghesquière on "Sustaining Creativity From Past To Future", Dries Van Noten on "Working With India", and François-Henri Pinault on "Towards Responsible Luxury". >> Just yesterday we were talking about the general direction of Fall 2009 ad campaigns and who might be the lucky girls, and already we've got some more concrete rumors.
First up, a surprise: Balenciaga is not one of the major brands to go with a single girl that was mentioned yesterday — instead, they're going with a group — of celebrities, at that — lensed by Steven Meisel. In the past seasons, Nicholas Ghesquiere has used Charlotte Gainsbourg and Jennifer Connelly — will they reprise their roles, or is he going with an entirely new look? I'm leaning toward the latter.
As for Calvin Klein, Francisco Costa is rumored to have chosen Monika "Jac" Jagaciak, one of the standout faces of the season, for the main Collection campaign — as an exclusive, just as he did with Anna Selezneva for Spring 2009. And it seems Stefano Pilati is continuing his super obsession at Yves Saint Laurent — past seasons have seen Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, and Kate Moss was just photographed for an upcoming fragrance. Now, Christy Turlington is rumored to have been shot for Fall 2009.
>> THE MODELIZER —Thanks to The Selby, we've seen the innards of Erin Wasson's Manhattan pad; now Interview has a few snapshots of the Venice Beach house she's lived in for six years — the one with the half-pipe in the backyard and a fully-insulated, electricity-laced treehouse. The self-described "total gypsy" who "start[s] getting the jitters" after two weeks in one place is well on her way to keeping those away. As for that goal to edit down her wardrobe and "be very Japanese, where you have one rolling rack and it's like your four T-shirts, your five dresses, your two pairs of jeans," last weekend's garage sale must have done some damage; she ended up making $8,000 for charity. Jumpsuits are all the rage this season and no one offered luxe examples in as many fabrications as did Stefano Pilati for Yves Saint Laurent. Net-a-Porter's exclusive with the label gives YSL fans an option under two thousand dollars but, other than that, these jumpsuits will cost you a pretty penny. Beautifully tailored that they are, one might rationalize the price by comparing them to made-to-measure suits.
Karl Lagerfeld's entourage just lost its most good-looking member, but it gained another pretty face to fill the void.
The Gap is going colorless-luxe for fall but thankfully, that doesn't mean they've adopted a luxury price point.
>> New York Times T Magazine envy has now gone global. At the beginning of this month, Le Monde launched the creatively-named M, its version of a lifestyle magazine, which has apparently been under development for a year and will publish monthly, making it slightly less frequent than T, which publishes 15 times a year. Matthias Vriens photographed the first cover with Audrey Marnay, plus an accompanying model-filled editorial inside; so far, the look is much more on par with a fashion magazine than the other T-inspired spinoff: The Wall Street Journal's WSJ.
