Anna Wintour Follows Federer to Miami

>> Anna Wintour went to new lengths over the weekend to catch a Roger Federer match.  She showed up in Miami for the Sony Ericsson Open with son Charlie Shaffer, dining with her favorite player and then taking his third round match in yesterday.  But she didn't have eyes solely for Federer: she and Charlie were out to support Andy Murray at his match Saturday.  Daughter Bee Shaffer wasn't able to join the excursion, but she was spotted out in New York last Thursday for the opening of Exit the King on Broadway.*image: source

Calvin Klein

>> ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL —Style.com named their top ten new models for Fall 2009 Friday, and along the way confirmed the rumor that 15-year-old Polish wunderkind Monika "Jac" Jagaciak, who couldn't walk in Paris because she was too young, would be Calvin Klein's Fall 2009 face.  Apparently she scored the gig last week, and if the rest of the rumor holds true, she's a brand exclusive.

Shopping: Leopard Goes Technicolor

It was best represented in the Spring 2009 Lanvin collection, but big leopard prints in fresh spring colors are all over the place this season.

It was best represented in the Spring 2009 Lanvin collection, but big leopard prints in fresh spring colors are all over the place this season. There's nothing more in fashion right now than optimism and these prints are a wonderful display of that sentiment. Pair these pieces with Brigitte Bardot eyeliner and soft, just-brushed hair and you'll be surprised how quickly your winter mood will lift.

Fall 2009 Trend Report: Over-The-Knee Please

Over-the-knee boots were all over the Fall 2009 catwalks, in styles that ranged from stocking-like to trouser-like in their appearance.
Fall 2009 Trend Report: Over-The-Knee Please

Over-the-knee boots were all over the Fall 2009 catwalks, in styles that ranged from stocking-like to trouser-like in their appearance. Thanks to the height, clothing was a lot less substantial and it was hard not to make the connection between the brevity of fabric and the recession. Not that things would be that simple, of course--these boots will undoubtedly cost quite a bit when they hit the retail floor (merchandisers put on your thinking caps). In The Showroom: Richard Nicoll Fall 2009

Last week, at the Centre For Fashion Enterprise pop-up showroom, we had the pleasure of meeting Richard Nicoll, maker of our favorite Topshop frock and all-around star designer. After a break-out MA collection at Central St Martins in 2002, Nicoll went on to show as part of the Fashion East gang and then, later, was backed by Topshop's New Gen program. More recently, Nicoll won the ANDAM prize as well as the British Fashion Council's Fashion Forward Award. Needless to say, he's faring quite well. Nicoll's standout Fall 2009 collection started by way of a print collaboration with the British artist Linder and explored deconstruction and femininity themes. Check out our snapshots from the showroom along with runway images below.

Quote Of The Day: Louis Vuitton Leads Africa Trends For Spring

When it appeared on the runway at the Louis Vuitton show in October, who could have believed that the fantastical footwear — selling at €1,250 to €2,250 (about $1,650 to $3,000) a pair — could be the hottest item for summer 2009?
When it appeared on the runway at the Louis Vuitton show in October, who could have believed that the fantastical footwear — selling at €1,250 to €2,250 (about $1,650 to $3,000) a pair — could be the hottest item for summer 2009? No wonder that the designer Marc Jacobs baptized it the “Spicy,” giving a name to the shoe, as had previously been the custom with the now-fading It bags. To spice up this footwear, the designer added everything but the kitchen sink — as long as it was out of Africa.
