>> INSIDER WIRE —While her old POP stomping ground seems to be having trouble fitting in these days, Katie Grand's Love is doing more than fine: the magazine is sold out, the fastest-selling debut issue of all time [presumably for Conde Nast UK], with reprints on the way. As for the other magazine in transition, Interview, expect big change with new creative directors Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag, aka M/M Paris. The retro logo is being readopted, fashion editorial won't be as model-heavy, and a full redesign is in order; the first peek will come with the May 2009 issue. [LOVE blog, FWD]

Dasha Zhukova's POP Appointment Has Become a Fashion Taboo
>> It's no surprise that Dasha Zhukova's recent appointment as POP editor-in-chief is making waves — she has no editorial experience and is seen by many as just the socialite girlfriend of a Russian billionaire. Plus, there's that whole matter of her taking over from Katie Grand — apparently a number of other potential candidates were reluctant to head up a magazine so imbued with Grand's identity.
Dasha, who has been attending some shows in Milan, feels "like the elephant in the room." And rightly so — Derek Blasberg reports that one British fashion journalist snidely commented to him, “I’m going to be the next queen of England,” while another joked that Kylie Minogue was in line to be the next editor of Vogue. Apparently, Anna Dello Russo pinched Dasha's seat at Jil Sander, the same day that her new POP position was announced.
Even editorial board member Daphne Guinness is distancing herself »
>> THE MODELIZER —Meet Katlin Aas, the 16-year-old Estonian newcomer who dabbled on the runways a bit in London — Christopher Kane, Topshop Unique — before landing two of the most coveted runway spots of the season: Prada opener and closer. It's not often that Miuccia picks the same girl to do double-duty, and Models.com predicts we'll be seeing her more when campaign season hits. [Models.com, Ones2Watch]

Marni's Mixmaster Does It Again for Fall 2009
>> While her husband's got his fingers in the new Vionnet pie, Consuelo Castiglioni worked her hand at Marni, earning rave reviews across the board — reviews that probably weren't hurt by the fact that more than one fashion editor left the brand's outlet in Milan happy. The eternal mixmaster may have turned down the brights from Spring, but there was still plenty to look at — bib necklaces, fur earmuffs and mittens, patterned tights — and let's not forget those standout geometric jacquard dresses, done just right in jeweltone metallics.

Milan Fashion Week: Versace Fall 2009
>> THE ZEITGEIST —Having a camera-toting entourage seems to be in vogue this season: Coco Rocha had an E! camera crew following her around in New York, Jessica Stam led MTV News around backstage at Anna Sui, Anna Wintour, who was joined by 60 Minutes's Morley Safer at Ralph Lauren and more recently, Dolce & Gabbana, is still filming for that video profile, and now Carine Roitfeld is being followed by a CNN crew in Milan and Paris for a Revealed show, to be aired after the Paris collections. Erin Wasson X RVCA Finally Dropped
One month after its alleged launch date, the Erin Wasson for RVCA Spring 2009 collection is finally hitting the retail floor. We hear that the collection just landed on shelves at Opening Ceremony in New York, although the pieces are not on their just-launched e-commerce site yet. As for other e-commerce retailers, a source at La Garconne tell us that they've just received the goods and will be shooting them and putting them online within the next week or so.

First Look: Christopher Kane's Crystal-Happy Versus Accessories
>> Yesterday, Christopher Kane apparently hid out of sight, nervous, while his 20-or-so-piece accessory capsule collaboration with mentor Donatella Versace for the newly-relaunched Versus line was presented. Diane Pernet deemed the crystal studded sandals and bags "a huge success," and Donatella was also pleased — "Who better than Christopher to revive it? He made so many sketches and they were all so good, we had a hard time editing" — so it seems Kane had nothing to worry about. The collection ranges from $500-$1500, and will not be in freestanding Versace stores, because the hopes are that boutique and department stores will pick up the line; clothing follows for Spring 2010.
