More Details on Saturday's House of Style Premiere

>> It turns out that the House of Style revival on MTV isn't quite what we thought; rather than bring back the series, MTV partnered with Teen Vogue for a Spring House of Style special.  Bar Refaeli is indeed host, and Chanel Iman, rather than co-host, is a correspondent.

The show is definitely targeted at teens: Bar counts down a Top 10 Most Wanted Trends list — think jelly shoes; talks designer DIYs — Teen Vogue fashion editor Mary Kate Steinmiller teaches viewers how to make friendship bracelets with Charlotte Ronson; catches up with Justin Timberlake for a behind-the-scenes look at his Fashion Week show; and chats with Taylor Swift about her style.  But there is a segment with Jessica Stam, who opens her closet to talk "how to make the most of what's already there," and Chanel catches up with Erin Fetherson to throw a dinner party, so definitely worth a look; it premieres this Saturday, March 21, at 3 PM EST/PST.

Green Jeans For Coutorture: Wood Wood Menswear Report

Founded in 2002 the Copenhagen design collective, Wood Wood, started out as a boutique showcasing streetwear-inspired tees, hoodies, and accessories.

Founded in 2002 the Copenhagen design collective, Wood Wood, started out as a boutique showcasing streetwear-inspired tees, hoodies, and accessories. Today, the brand continues to expand with designer collaborations and full ready to wear collections. As for the men's range, the appeal pivots on their signature shirting--eye catching because of the creative tailoring and hidden details (i.e. pockets in unusual places and the like). The new collection for Fall/Winter 2009 further showcases Wood Wood’s unique take on menswear classics. The overall fit is a bit baggier and the color palette more subdued than season's prior, which set the stage for a few fun knitwear pieces in the lineup.

In The Showroom: Alice Ritter Fall 2009

French designer Alice Ritter is a favorite among fashionable but not over-the-top New York gals. Her signature plaid blouses, country summer frocks, and motorcycle jackets have always reminded us of Isabel Marant--who likewise is known for capturing that coveted notion of easy French cool. This season Ritter brought back her chic harem trousers from Spring--which have already sold out at Barneys--in addition to some amazing light outwear pieces rendered in charcoal and black. Check out Ritter's Fall 2009 collection below along with a few snapshots from our showroom visit.

Quote Of The Day: Cathy Horyn Reflects On Fall 2009

Retailers seemed almost surprised that designers had managed to cram so much style into classics like the coatdress without overdoing it.
Retailers seemed almost surprised that designers had managed to cram so much style into classics like the coatdress without overdoing it. As Mr. Frasch said, “It’s fashion, but it’s not going to be going out of fashion.” Julie Gilhart, the fashion director at Barneys New York, brought up the Lanvin sheath with the twist, which will cost about $2,300. “It’s the kind of dress you can wear, then put away in your closet for 10 years. When you bring it back out, people will say, ‘What is that?’ And you can say, ‘Yeah, it’s a 10-year-old Lanvin.’ ”

Shopping: Black & White Printed Harem Trousers

Whether or not you've fully embraced the harem trouser trend is dependent on whether you're willing to wear them in a loud print.

Whether or not you've fully embraced the harem trouser trend is dependent on whether you're willing to wear them in a loud print. While the black jersey versions are seeping into the female consumer conscious these statement-making renderings are definitely not mainstream just yet. If you're brave enough to wear them we think that a black bodysuit and a pair of simple heels would balance out the look.
