Let the Marc Jacobs-Lorenzo Martone Marriage Rumors Return

>> Rumors of an impending marriage between Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone reached a fever pitch last July but eventually turned out to be unfounded.  Speaking on the possibility of a wedding backstage at Louis Vuitton last week, however, Martone was coy: "It's really early to share, but our relationship is getting stronger and more mature.

And with that, some things might happen."

And where might things happen? "We experienced a really great vacation in St. Barth's recently.  It was during the winter in December. It was super warm, people were relaxed, tanned, and we were having an amazing time with our friends. So why not? Maybe a New Year's Eve wedding in St. Barth's would be really fun."

The couple is currently on vacation in Brazil, and is making stops in Martone's hometown of Sao Paulo to spend time with his family — apparently Marc is meeting Lorenzo's mom for the first time — as well as Rio de Janeiro.

>> THE MODELIZER —More names have come up for the model-centric May 2009 Vogue cover: Anna Maria Jagodzinska and Lara Stone, the latter of which supposedly fulfills the "unexpected choice" hint indicating a model who's never before appeared in Vogue.  Together with the seven names that have already come up — Caroline Trentini, Jourdan Dunn, Raquel Zimmermann, Natasha Poly, Isabeli Fontana, Liya Kebede, and Natalia Vodianova, the rumored nine spots have been fulfilled.

The only problem is, the last two — Liya and Natalia — who were identified by RG Vogue, conflict with another source, who won't name names but say two models, one with the first initial K, and the other with the first initial A, were supposedly involved.  Perhaps there are eleven models?  Or maybe the list was edited somewhere along the way. Swanepoel, Alejandro Ingelmo, and Jason Wu have all entered the Swarovski Award ring this year.

We'll have to wait until June 15 to see who wins what, but the ceremony might mark fashion's first Michelle Obama event appearance — she's being honored with this year's Board of Director's Special Tribute for her style choices and penchant for up-and-coming talent.

And now, the nominees . . . »

Kate Moss

>> THE MODELIZER —Late last week, it floated around that Kate Moss's room party at the Ritz Paris during Fashion Week got so boisterous, a neighboring editor had to switch rooms in the middle of the night, and management had to apologize to guests on her behalf the following morning.  Now we know who the unlucky editor was: Teen Vogue editor-in-chief Amy Astley.

Red Lipstick: Fall 2009's Ubiquitous Exclusive

This season's biggest beauty trend, strong red lips, created almost as much of a stir during Fashion Week as did those eponymous thigh-high boots.

This season's biggest beauty trend, strong red lips, created almost as much of a stir during Fashion Week as did those eponymous thigh-high boots. First, in New York, limited-edition tubes of MAC's Ruffian Red lipstick were given to show attendees-- the tomato shade was so well-received it even had beauty editors calling it The Rarest Red. Later, in Milan, the Chanel "liquid" lips at Sportmax created a similar sensation. This time the siren shade was buzzed about by American editors who couldn't get their hands on the European-released shade just yet. Regardless it seems the ubiquitous rep-lipstick look will be back in a big way for Fall 2009--that is, if you can get your hands on the right shade.

H&M

First Look: Matthew Williamson for H&M

>> Matthew Williamson's colorful range for H&M doesn't hit stores until April 23 (with more Summer pieces following mid-May), but previews are already hitting the web, featuring a wide-sleeved sequin minidress (below), $200, a cobalt blue silk suit with fuschia piping, and a tan leather jacket with neon piping among them.  Unfortunately, we have to wait until May issues break to see the campaign, shot by Solve Sundsbo with Williamson and Daria Werbowy in Mexico.*image: source

Smith + Butler Do New York Pop-Up Shop With Moscot

Later this month Brooklyn cult-boutique Smith + Butler is taking occupancy at the Moscot space in Manhattan's Lower East Side.

Later this month Brooklyn cult-boutique Smith + Butler is taking occupancy at the Moscot space in Manhattan's Lower East Side. Smith + Butler, responsible for something of a Steve McQueen renaissance in Brooklyn, stocks classic American work wear and Motorbikes, among other Americana-inspired items. Moscot seems an apt partner then--the New York-borne eyewear company has been in business for almost one hundred years now and still contends with hip eyewear brands like Ksubi with their retro-inspired styles. The temporary space will host both Moscot and Smith + Butler's newest Spring offerings from March 27th through May 25th.

Lanvin

>> INSIDER WIRE —Nicholas Kirkwood is building a small shoe empire — his seasonal shoes for Rodarte are talked about just as much as the clothes, his namesake line has quite the cult following, and now he's about to add another gig to his consulting work at Alberta Ferretti and his accessories creative directorship at Pollini:  Alber Elbaz has tapped Kirkwood as footwear designer for Lanvin, with his first work appearing in the Spring 2010 collection.
