>> THE MODELIZER —There's been a big question to where and when the much buzzed-about newcomer Rose Cordero would show up — and now we know. Her runway debut came at Burberry today — she ended a black model drought at Burberry that as far as I can tell dated back to Spring 2005, with Liya Kebede — to a positive reaction: "everyone [is] loving the extraordinary, new black girl with the perfectly clipped afro." >> It's well-known that Donatella Versace looks at Christopher Kane as a protege — he worked on Atelier Versace, consulted on Versace accessories, and many expect him to one day take Donatella's place.
He's been out on his own for a few years now doing his own thing, but in honor of the relaunch of Versus, which returns with clothing in 2010, Kane is designing a capsule collection of Versus bags and shoes to be shown this weekend. Word leaked from the Versace camp today, and it was confirmed by Kane's PR — Donatella is expected to make the official announcement this weekend.
It's season two for Rachel Antonoff's solo range and we think Barneys will be pleased. This season Antonoff moved into separates, focusing on cropped, pleated trousers and silk blouses with special details. It's just the right evolution if you ask us. Check out the designer's look book, starring Julia Frakes, Sarah Sophie Flicker, and Alia Shawkat in the gallery below.
>> THE MODELIZER —After teasing us with are-they-or-aren't-they rumors for a few months now, Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady married last night at St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica. The ceremony was "very small and intimate" with mostly immediate family attending; Gisele wore a form-fitting ivory lace strapless gown with trumpet skirt, scalloped edges, long train and a floor-length veil with attached handmade satin roses and attached satin headband, all by her close friends Dolce & Gabbana. Her three dogs also wore matching Dolce & Gabbana floral lace collars. [US Weekly]
Although Just Cavalli is in dangerous financial waters and had to back out of their runway slot at the last minute, the show must go on. The Fall 2009 Just Cavalli presentation took place in Milan yesterday and revealed a tougher, more urban looking range than is typical of the beach-ready diffusion line. Perhaps this means Cavalli is ready for a fight?
