Heavens knows you can't last all summer wearing the same pair of shorts. You have to have a pair for dancing, a pair for grocery shopping, a pair for work, and so on. This Spring 09, we think you would have all your bases covered with these six distinct pairs. You can find them at price points high and low, starting right now--because no one wants to wear hotpants to work or trouser shorts to the beach...
The number of gals who we've seen stomping around Brooklyn in clogs is frankly starting to alarm us--penny loafers we could deal with, but not this. With the surprising news that UGGs are faring quite well this year, we can't help but wonder if women are taking to comfort shoes as a subconscious balancing act. Take the front page of Style.com today--right there, front-and-center are a pair of Sorels. Everyone knows that a gal's got to face the snow in something but do we really need to speak of it on the front page? Is this some kind of recession-friendly trend report? Please, just bump up a review of a DKNY show or something! Otherwise, we've seen a few very suspicious sandals floating around on Net-a-Porter. It seems both Chloe and Phillip Lim have opted for comfort over, well, style (okay, they're not that bad but still). Could these instances of hyper-comfort be a response to the sky-high heels we've been staring at for seasons? We're not going to pretend our ankles don't hurt or that we're not sick of finding that the shoes we want are just too high to wear. But, ladies, please! Unless you're six feet tall, your calves deserve better!
This summer when the gals at Refinery 29 rounded up 15 promise rings the prospect of getting engaged seemed much more fashionable. Now, Alex & Chloe has given them a reason to pop the question--and there's nothing to do but say yes. These limited edition Alex & Chloe wedding rings will be available exclusively through Revolve Clothing and there's even going to be a party to go with them. If you're getting ready to tie the knot be sure to check out our Fall 2009 Bridal coverage.
Is it just us or are the cotton basics that cost more worth the extra money--for all of the Urban Outfitters tank tops and American Apparel t-shirts we own, we wear our Daftbird, Clu, and Splendid pieces more than twice as often. In our opinion, we think it's worth it to invest in high-quality cotton basics that will wear beautifully over time. This morning, when we scoped out Clu's newest delivery on La Garconne we realized that they would also be a great midseason strategy. Just peel off the layers and you're ready for Spring.
The opening fete for Topshop Soho is reportedly taking place on March 26th--that's a few weeks after fashion week has ended and just before the Spring delivery season is in full swing. Well timed indeed.
Is the recession effecting quality-control at Target? No, that's just Brooklyn.
