Online retailers selling vintage jewelry are gaining momentum as consumers look to make meaningful purchases that will last a lifetime. As Carmen Haid, founder of vintage clothing and accessories website Atelier Meyer, told WWD in an article on the demand for vintage online, “I don’t think people want to spend on a piece from the high street that will last a season anymore. A vintage investment is season-less." And, when it comes to jewelry, vintage often equals timeless. Australian-based designer Tina Kalivas is often inspired by faraway cultures and their people, and her current collection—Polyrhythm—mixes recent influences from Afghanistan with a touch of African geometry. Kalivas meticulously folds hand-dyed tribal fabrics into symmetrically printed peplum skirts and structured dresses, turning a tired old trend into one of the best collections of the season.
Sonia Rykiel's second (and most highly anticipated) collection for H&M will debut in stores on February 20th. Following the lingerie line which included boudoir-style evening wear, the new knitwear pieces are classically French and distinctly Rykiel.
