What we saw happen this year, which we haven’t seen in a while, is the discounts were approaching 70 percent. Some of the deals that were being done were just crazy." This week, meanwhile, Anna Wintour is continuing to beef up Vogue's web presence — a spokesman confirmed that Blue State Digital, which masterminded Barack Obama's online campaign, has been hired to work on Vogue.com business and editorial sides, focusing on reader and subscriber outreach. >> Olivier Zahm, the man who recently described his trademark look as "a disguise" — "five or six years ago, I decided to wear this kind of outfit and behave as if I were a celebrity. It’s not out of narcissism. It’s for the magazine. For an independent magazine to exist, I had to incarnate it personally" — has been busy with projects other than Purple Fashion lately.  He and art director Alex Wiederin have been working together "on Carine Roitfeld's book" — no further details given, and he's also "art directed and designed" the first issue of 31 Rue Cambon, a Chanel magazine — which seems to be in a similar vein as Yves Saint Laurent's Manifesto — to be distributed worldwide in Chanel stores. Featured, of course, are Chanel favorites like Lara Stone, Baptiste Giabiconi, and Freja Beha Erichsen.

Lady Gaga and Francesco Vezzoli Blur Lines Between Art and Entertainment at MOCA Bash

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles spared no expense for its 30th anniversary celebration over the weekend.

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles spared no expense for its 30th anniversary celebration over the weekend. Lady Gaga performed her new ballad, "Speechless" in an art-meets-entertainment spectacle masterminded by Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli. The production featured a dance by the Bolshoi Ballet, Gaga on a pink piano painted with butterflies by Damien Hirst, and costumes by Miuccia Prada.

Hosted by POP magazine's Dasha Zhukova and Larry Gagosian the event was attended by 1,000 guests from the worlds of fashion (Carine Roitfeld, Cameron Silver, Kate and Laura Mulleavy), art (Takashi Murakami, David Hockney, Jeff Koons), music (Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani), and film (Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, James Franco).

"My wish is that the entertainment industry makes love more often with the art industry," said Vezzoli of the production. "I love that," replied Gaga. "Having my fans watch the [performance] video and be exposed to a level of art and a level of installation is so beautiful and so important."

>> Soon after Gemma Ward popped up in New York for her 22nd birthday, a spokesperson from her Australian agency Vivens went on record saying of Ward: "Gemma hasn't committed to returning to modelling at any time soon." The comment spurred many to conclude that Ward was permanently done with modeling.

Now, however, Ward herself is speaking out.  She Twittered yesterday: "Thankyou everyone for your support, all i'll say on the subject is im content with my decision but i have said nothing will be permanent."  And she emailed The West Australian to let them know she plans on returning to the catwalk next year: "I have not 'quit modelling' and my fans back home can expect to see me back at work modelling and acting in the new year."

Angelina Jolie

Brad and Angelina Design Serpent-Themed Baby Gifts for Asprey

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designed a snake-themed capsule collection of jewlery and baby gifts for British brand Asprey.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designed a snake-themed capsule collection of jewlery and baby gifts for British brand Asprey. Titled "The Protector" because Jolie considers the serpent shape a protector of her family, the collection was designed and conceived entirely by Jolie and Pitt.

Pieces include silver baby gifts—a baby spoon, egg cup, tooth box, and picture frame—each with serpent details and reptile pendants, rings, and bracelets for adults made with gold and micropave diamonds. Jolie wore one of the pieces, an emerald and diamond bracelet, with Armani Prive to the BAFTA awards earlier this year.

According to WWD, Jolie and Pitt have been working on the collection for over a year. When available later this week in Asprey stores worldwide, prices will start at $525 (for the baby spoon) and all net proceeds will go to Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, a charity co-founded by Jolie in 2006.

Pitt's last foray into jewelry design—wedding bands for his 2000 marriage to Jennifer Aniston—resulted in a $50 million dollar lawsuit against jeweler Diamiani when the brand reportedly sold Brad and Jennifer knockoff rings. We hope his partnership with Asprey is a happier one and will wait with bated breath for the Angelina-fronted advertising campaign.

Donna Karan is on the December cover of Architectural Digest discussing her Balinese health resort-inspired vacation home in the Turks and Caicos—a gift to her late husband, Stephan Weiss.

Karan uses the Parrot Cay retreat (equipped with a yoga pavilion and a spa villa) as a personal sanctuary and a place to feature the organic home furnishings sold to benefit her Urban Zen Foundation. Karan started the foundation in her husband's memory to promote the integration of Eastern healing with Western medicine. Her three Urban Zen store locations—in New York City, Sag Harbor, and Ketchum, Idaho—offer everything from clothing and accessories to coffee and photography, and a percentage of all sales is donated to the charity.
