>> Daphne Guinness spent some time last month being photographed by Steven Klein for an upcoming issue of Vogue Italia, but she also spent ten days out of July in Maui on a shoot with i-D and Vogue Italia photographer David LaChapelle.  She blogged today of the experience:

"We’ve been shooting for 10 days straight. Sometimes twenty hour shoots in a day, from the deepest jungle to the volcanic cliffs, moving sets and equipment constantly. Working directly with the elements, the downpours, changing height and distances and moving the equipment has all been a challenge. The results are completely remarkable."

>> Bold as she is in the designing arena, Miuccia Prada is less than forthcoming in other areas — she won't speak her sons' names on the record, despite the fact that she'll talk about their political leanings, and she won't publicly admit to admiring any designers — “I’ve said before but not now" — or well-dressed celebrities.  W grills Miuccia about all this and more — including a potentially incriminating photo of her husband and Prada CEO Patrizio Bertelli which has set off gossip — in their September 2009 issue.

She's not letting the economic crisis affect her.

“The only difference that I noticed is that you have to be more and more yourself. What is really selling is what is really Prada. You can’t do some generic bullsh*t.”

Same goes for those pictures of her husband, who she calls "Bertelli," looking cozy in the subway with a blond woman. 

“Gossip — gossip is everywhere, so what do you do? Of course, I pay attention, but after, what do you do? Nothing.”

>> Marchesa's Georgina Chapman, Tory Burch To Appear on Gossip Girl —Michael Kors filmed a cameo for Gossip Girl last season, and this week, Georgina Chapman and Tory Burch put in some time filming for the show.  The designers did separate scenes for the episode airing Oct. 5; no details were released about their roles, but part of the set was made to look like Burch's office (left). >> Earlier this week, we got our first look at Jil Sander's +J Uniqlo collection, but no specific drop date or price information.  Finally, Uniqlo is getting more specific: the line will be in UK and US stores on Oct. 1 and in Asia on Oct. 2, and expect prices to run $19.50 for a stretch t-shirt to $149.50 for a Chesterfield coat.
